although I imagine they would make more money, you’re basically asking the home team to invite more visiting fans through the door.

Were the Capitals going to sell out game one of their preseason otherwise?  Attendance at their last preseason opener was 12527, or 68%, and that was after they made the playoffs the previous year (they didn't this year).

If they stopped Bills fans from attending, they'd lose out on beer sales totaling -checks math- $100 Trillion dollars.
