PromoTheRobot Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Just two years? I assume this year isn't included. He missed a lot of potential playing time. Edited May 27, 2023 by PromoTheRobot

Popular Post inkman Posted May 27, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted May 27, 2023 Hopefully he’s more decisive moving the puck than signing this deal. 2 13 4

So you're saying those 2 years are coming up? His Amerks playoff fling isn't going to be considered year one? Edited May 27, 2023 by PromoTheRobot
nfreeman Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Can he play for the Amerks in this playoff run?
Flashsabre Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Wait he will report to the Amerks now? Could he play playoff games?

Johnson hasn’t played since the Frozen Four so he won’t be inserted in the lineup. Savoie came straight from the WHL Finals so he had been playing the whole time. I would love to see a Johnson-Metsa pairing at some point😀 Im happy about this announcement. Kid is a great skater and plays a really smart defensive game. You have to think he has a chance to take that 3rd LHD spot in Buffalo. Good Job Adams. Nice week (Johnson, Komarov, Novikov,Okposo) 3

Agree about the playing time. Just throwing this out there ,maybe he was playing though a nagging injury and just wanted some time off? I'm not too concerned about thowing him in the lineup to play. I think just being there for practices, getting to know 'some of the guys' and the coaches is going to be the short term benefit. If, IF, Rochester advances AND they are hit with a couple injuries on the back end, that is where I see him playing. Edited May 27, 2023 by mjd1001
French Collection Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 The depth on D just got a bump with Novikov, Komarov and Johnson signing. Now KA can draft one or two more to keep filling the pool. 1 2
Dr. Who Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 I guess I'll have to stop disliking him, but I still suspect he has a Little Lord Fauntleroy attitude.
triumph_communes Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Nice. Need the depth in the position. Still, signing a vet UFA top4 D is a need this off season. No more waiting 1 2
Standing Room Smoking Cigs Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Quite a pedigree on the defense... 3 first rounders (2 at number 1) and a 2nd... if we are penciling in our top 4 defensemen, next year or the year after... This team is setting up to be a dynasty if they can figure it out... Sunny days ahead.... 2
DarthEbriate Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Rochester's blue line looks much more sound next season with he and Novikov as options. 3
Slack_in_MA Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Isn’t the ELC length a function of age when signing? Two years if 22-23, right? 1 1

kas23 Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Well, there’s goes that dumb theory that the Sabres would’ve preferred a late 2nd rounder in 2024. That said, I have real concerns on why he didn’t sign earlier. In the least, he could’ve played in every Amerks playoff game. He doesn’t seem like a competitor. Edited May 27, 2023 by kas23 3

Now it's time to address the real items of the offseason: Extensions for Dahlin and Power, determining what Joker and UPL and Mitts mean to the franchise, and then finding the veteran D and goalie. (OK probably not goalie because it's GM Sheevyn and we have all we need right here, but still a veteran goalie would be very, very helpful.) 2 2
