No.  We can already score. If im adding offensively it's someone with aggression,  which Kane doesn't provide.

Defense is where the focus should be.

Why not Patrick Kane is a major upgrade with Stanley Cup winning experience that too many Buffalo Sabres discount that. Which is one of the many reasons why the Buffalo Sabres are 12 years and counting out of the playoffs there are no standards everyone on the current Buffalo Sabres are greater than they actually are with some in the Buffalo Sabres fan base. The Buffalo Sabres franchise would be lucky if a player as talented and accomplished as Patrick Kane would like to play for the Buffalo Sabres to finish his NHL career. I don’t expect it to happen because PSE doesn’t care about winning or has any standards or shame for that matter in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

I read the first line or two of this post and was going to explain the difference between Kane and Okposo.

But then I finished reading and realized there's no point.

Comparable as veterans past their prime. Kane would still provide veteran leadership. Maybe a different kind, but still a has been veteran leader. There's room for one or two on the roster maybe but no more.

I'm not convinced Kane and leadership go together. I also don't think he even wants to be a Sabre, unless we were the only team in the league willing to pay him.

Well this is an unknown. Adams would have to talk to him and see. Kane would have to talk about childhood dreams and echo Tuch's comments. If he has that in him he could be great for the team in terms of calling back to the good old days and starting a new era. Marketing would be great for that sort of stuff. He'd have to want it though. Maybe he doesn't.

The only boxes he checks off are playoff experience and MAYBE wants to be in Buffalo. Not enough.

Well, not just playoff experience, he has 3 Cup wins and a Conn Smythe.   Add in a Hart, a Ross, a Lindsey Award, and a Calder.

I don’t want him because we have players with his skill set and he would block others.  We have a lot good forward prospects to look at.

Top 4 defenseman, goalie, a big power or checking forward. He doesn’t fill the needs.

I don't want him because we have players capable of all those things on the current roster, and he's not capable of any of those things anymore.

Ultimately all acquisitions are going to have to fill a hole in the roster that won’t or can’t be filled by someone already here.  Also don't expect long-term deals for any acquisitions unless we have a complete void in the pipeline such as top 4 D.

As to Kane where does he fit?  We have scoring forwards on the roster and under contract.  In addition we have a pile of them in the pipeline as well.

KA acquired Greenway to add a more physical player to the forward group.  He added Lyubushkin and Stillman to add physical depth on the backend.

What we lack is a defensive capable center but Krebs may be able to take on that role.  We also lack a partner for Power on the roster or in the pipeline.   We lack legit experience in net, but that doesn’t seem to phase KA.

We also lack significant playoff experience across the entire roster.  The hope is KA can fill the void of veteran experience with a top 4 did acquisition.

Kane is deathly allergic to playing defense.

To say He sucks in His own end is a gross understatement. The Sabres have zero need for for a winger with a declining skill. If  you are looking for a forward with playoff experience look for one who can provide something the team does not have now.

JT Compher, Haula, Frederic or Pierre Engvall would provide this.

If we're looking for "veteran leadership" then we definitely should not be looking at Kane. If he wants to be in buffalo, there's nothing stopping him from buying season tickets.

Polls are great mechanisms to gauge fan's opinions fwiw!

Taro hit it on the head imho. We could've used Kane's offense years ago, not so much anymore. Now we could use a player with other traits. Power 2 way forward, PK specialist, vet D etc. If Kane wants to come here for vet minimum sure. Thats really the only way it makes sense at this point & thats not gonna happen.

Even with their effectiveness becoming more limited, I would prefer Girgensons and Okposo at decent contracts over Kane here at the veteran minimum.  They play the game we need more of.

I dont' want him even for the Vet minimum, want no part of him.  He is not going to do well on a 4th line in that role.  Put him on a top line and I don't want that either because I'd rather have some of the younger guys get those minutes.

I don't see a way I want him on this team at all, with the exception of 3-4 of the top 6 wingers on this team going down with injuries in camp.  Even then, I'd probably rather write off the year than have Kane there.

Kane had hip surgery today.  Out 4-6 months.

He might be available around Thanksgiving at a deep discount.

Just sayin’…

Somehow become an LTIR roster addition for a team.
