K-9 Posted March 27, 2023 Report Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) As I mentioned in the now closed Sabres Pride Night Thread, over 100 anti LGBTQ laws have been passed or proposed in 23 states, or nearly half the Union. And yet I read several posts touting that at least we don’t live in a country that threatens people for having different beliefs. That cannot be true with so many lawmakers in so many states seeking to curtail the rights of of the LGBTQ community. The ideals expressed in our nations’s founding documents are perhaps the greatest ever written. The laws codified in the Bill of Rights and the rest of the Constitution speak to our efforts to live up to them. But the sad fact is that as a nation, we have never lived up to them. LGR4GM Posted March 28, 2023 Report Posted March 28, 2023 At this point, there are clearly diverging ideas on what "America" was founded to be/represent.
Weave Posted March 28, 2023 Report Posted March 28, 2023 The influence of corporations and cults won’t allow for this nation to reach its promise. They are both way too self serving to ever allow it. Our biggest failure is not outright rioting when allowing them to participate was considered at all. Add in the more than occasional criminal in sheep's clothing and it is inevitable that we won’t achieve all that we should be able to achieve.
