matter2003 Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) As of last night we now have a 3% chance based on point percentage after Caps and Sens win... So you are telling me...there is a chance?? Edited March 24, 2023 by matter2003 Quote

kas23 Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 We could have fun with this. I would pencil him in at 2C. Shift Cozens down to 3C. Even though we’ll outscore teams 80% of the time, we’ll still be giving up an average of 5 goals per night. 1 2 Quote

Scottysabres Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) My God, the NHL fan bases would have an epic melt down if the Sabres actually took the 1st pick over all. I'd love to see it, if for no other reason then to watch Toronto psychopaths lose their chit 😀 Edited March 24, 2023 by Scottysabres 2 3 Quote

Flashsabre Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 Sabres have never moved up in a draft lottery. This is the year to cash in that chip.😀 3 Quote
msw2112 Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) I'd rather the Sabres win all of their remaining games and fall one point short of the playoffs than continue to circle the drain at a fast pace like they are doing now. It would show heart, desire, an ability to get off the canvas, and set the right tone for the future. That said, if Bedard is a Connor McDavid type, I'm in. If he's Jack Eichel or even Alex LaFreniere, no thanks. I don't follow hockey prospects that closely, so I honestly don't know. Edited March 24, 2023 by msw2112 3 Quote

Bedrard is easily the best prospect pre-draft since Dahlin, and arguably since Matthews or even McDavid. He currently has 70 goals and 72 assists in 55 WHL games. (An NHLe of 64 points) Matthews’ NHLe his draft year was 49 points, and Mcdavid’s was 68 points. Bedrard is a little smaller than those too, so he may not translate to the NHL quite as seamlessly, but at this point he definitely looks more McDavid/Matthews than Eichel/Lafreniere. 1 Quote
sabresparaavida Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 Bedrard also had 23 points in only 7 games in the WJCs 1 Quote

Lafreniere has basically not improved at all over last year statistically and is looking a lot more like Girgensons than Eichel right now. Low 30 points totals and 15-20 goals isn't going to cut it for what he was supposed to be. It's his 3rd season too so he has had plenty of time to show a lot more than what he has on a really good team. Eichel's first 3 seasons were 56, 57 and 64 points with 24+ goals in all of them. Lafraniere's first 3 are 21,31 and 32(so far), with his high in goals being 19 last year. The other years have been 12 and 14(so far). Zemgus' first 3 were 22, 30 and 18. He is a long way from Eichel's level his first 3 years, he just simply isn't very good. Kind of embarassing for how highly he was touted. Edited March 24, 2023 by matter2003 1 Quote
LGR4GM Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 I don't think we will finish low enough to even be in the Bedard lottery (have to finish 11th over worse) but maybe I am an optimist. Here is what Connor Bedard brings. Quote
pi2000 Posted March 24, 2023 Report Posted March 24, 2023 Since 2016, when they implemented the lottery for picks 1-3, there have been five teams ranked outside the bottom 7 have moved up to one of the top 3 selections. 3 1 Quote
