When they put him at wing and separated him from VO, Mitts started playing much better. He's just not suited for center, given the decision making issues you pointed out.

Mitts is a 3rd line winger. Vo is a pp and shot specialist. We need to pick one and move on from the other if we're serious about winning next season. Bringing back both is a failure regardless of how liked they are by coaches or the room.

Bring back Mitts and hope the shine of a 30 goal scorer can fetch a nice piece in a trade. But every GM is privy to what VO has put on video so I don’t think the sweet aroma of 30 goals will overcome the stench of the rest of his game enough to get much in return.

I concur that if only one goes you keep Mitts another year and trade VO, who should get more on the market.  Scorers are always in need.

Hi! I'm sorry that you didn't understand what I was saying but I will write it out in detail.

Jack Quinn had 9pts in 15 games

Jiri Kulich has 40 in 55 games

That means Quinn played at a .6ppg pace in his 15 game injury season (he had a groin injury)

That means that Kulich 0.73ppg is just ahead of what Quinn did.

See how that works? Further you even did my work for me, Kulich had 7g in his first 32 games which shockingly falls really close in line with what we saw from injured Quinn in his first 15 games.

In addition you have completely ignored Kulich's assist total which seems at odds considering that his playmaking is exactly why I would leave him in Rochester another yr. You even note that his passing needs work. That is because Kulich lacks deception and timing still. We already know he can score on breakways and from the Olofsson spot on the pp, but his overall game and his playmaking is half of what Quinn was bringing to the AHL. There is a big reason that Kulich has half as many assists as Quinn did. Quinn had 1.356ppg last year in the AHL whereas Kulich is rocking a 0.73ppg this year in the AHL. That's almost exactly half of what Quinn did. SO no, Jiri Kulich is not on the same level as Jack Quinn and is not ready to jump to the NHL yet.

Finally, you say that you see more upside to Kulich compared to Quinn. That is mindboggling to me if I am being honest. Kulich is good but there are layers to Jack Quinn's game that I have never seen from Kulich. Maybe he develops them but right now the higher level functions of Quinn's game (preparing space, deception, passing, and positional iq) are not as readily apparent in Kulich. This is again another reason to leave him in Rochester so he can develop these things.

This team needs to decide if it will add Savoie or Kulich but they shouldn't be adding both next season.

All that is premised on them being the same player. Kulich is a goal scorer not a facilitator (as yet) which is what I was comparing with the two as far as flashing upside.

Perhaps you haven’t realized this in your short time as a hockey fan, but there are different types of hockey players. There are those who don’t develop as passers for some period of time (if ever) but are great scoring snipers. While there are others who have more all-around scoring/passing game that they bring to the table (Rick Martin vs Gil Perrault).

One can only presume you believe Point (45/38) or Ovechkin (42/30) deficient players this season; whereas, say, Kucherov (28/74) is not, because they score goals at a higher rate but don’t garner assists (ranking 66th and 120th in assists, respectively) - as that’s not their game this year (as with many scoring forwards; cf. Rantanen; Thompson; et al).

See how that works?

(I really would not typically respond to a conversation that way; I do so only to prove a point - while making my main point about Kulich [age; goal scoring prowess] as there really is no reason for you to be a condescending ***** about a response from my perspective that was a legitimate engagement in conversation about the two players. That’s why I responded, not with serious intent, as I did above - one appropriate to yours. Maybe you’ll get the point; or not).

As to the prime reason for my saying he has more upside - as a goal scorer - is that he’s been scoring goals at a higher rate than Quinn at the AHL level … at age 18 - by himself in a foreign country half way round the world, and all the cultural challenges that attend to that for an 18 yr old, and whose language he hasn’t learned well I might add (as I did previously) - compared to Quinn’s production at age 20 a bit over an hour flight from home. In his native language.

(Have you lived in a foreign country whose language you did not know? I have).

And when you mature a bit in life and you want to have a legitimate adult - ie rational and respectable - conversation or disagreement, let me know; I am more than happy to engage in that.

I still think Mitts is gonna be a baller in the playoffs.

As long as he’s balling as a winger.

Actually, I'm just never going to discuss things with you again. See when someone decides to be a... well that word gets me banned... you don't seek their acceptance.

There's me disagreeing with how you compared the two, then there's this personal sack of trash post. Enjoy your day.
