It says alot about how little there is that another lost season might be celebrated as the best of an era.

I mean, a feverish run for 9th place is a lofty goal now.

I agree on all of that. I looked at Philly, the entire D-unit (especially Risto), how they play, and figure if the Sabres played them in a 7 game series, Buffalo should sweep that team. Then in January, Philly beat a pretty healthy (at the time) Buffalo 4-0, putting almost 40 shots on Anderson I think.  I blocked out most of that game form my memory, but what I do recall is Jost was probably the best player on the ice for the team.

It's probably a good thing we don't make the playoffs. Style we play is NOT playoff hockey and no matter who we played we'd go out in 4, 5 games at the most.

Sir, I’m clearly outmatched by your humor. Enjoy your evening in the spotlight.

I’d like 3 skaters this offseason:

1. A guy to who can clear guys out of our own crease.

2. Vanek 2.0. Somebody who can make their living standing strong in their crease and bang in the garbage.

3. Somebody who can stand them up at the blue line.

(Obviously a goaltender. Maybe 2)

It should be and more… Someone in the Media pointed out a while back we have 14 1st Round Draft Choices of our 18 skaters on the roster… Not all our choices but all 1st Round Draft Choices… We are loaded with talent

I'd rather have Andreychuk 2.0

So sick of this excuse.  They are young by choice.  There is no reason a rebuild requires 3 entire seasons being thrown away.  This is the 4th GM in a row that this franchise has hired who is way too comfortable burning seasons for some future that never materializes.

Sabres fans have Stockholm syndrome from the franchise's historic run of ineptitude, but it's important to remember that the NHL is not a developmental league. Fans of a franchise should be able to look forward to more than just prospect porn.

POTY.

Sabres were 5-3 in the eight games before the deadline. 2-5-1 since. The case is growing.

Cozens and Dahlin, imo… Both tough 21 yr olds…  Neither yet mature men who will put on muscle and PunchTheSnot OuttaThe Guy experience… Maybe Quinn as well… He’s got the IrishFightingSpirit

True.  But I honestly mean it.  I enjoyed the hockey on most nights.

Unlike last year, when the team progressed as the season went along, this team is worse now than they were 20 games ago.  Yes there have been injuries and the goaltending has stunk, but the coaching staff has not successfully adjusted to the injuries or the defensive structure to help the goaltenders.

That's what we thought/hoped, but so far that's not who he is or what he does.

He did get in front of the net that helped us get a goal but overall, he's not playing like a big aggressive forward.

Exactly my point. Why? Remember DG “pounded the table” when they got him. He thinks there is more to his game and I have a feeling DG is pushing him to be less aggressive so he can focus on offense.

Cozens, Dahlin and maybe Quinn are just regular hockey players and pretty average in terms of toughness. The fact that they are "tough" relative to the rest of the team is simply a reflection of how soft the team as a whole is.

Cozens is nowhere near as physical as he was last season.

We did this in another thread, and while it's possible, I find the idea of telling him to be less aggressive is just a ludicrous concept. Being aggressive does not stop you from being an offensive threat. You can be both. That's what a power forward is.

Then why hasn’t he been aggressive? Wouldn’t you think he’d want to show his team what he can do?

Big disappointment.  Flyers want to fight Krebs and Kyle.

Greenway never offered to accommodate them.
