DarthEbriate Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 Well... yeah. Retro to last Friday for moving pieces. This is the way. Come on, R2! You've got to come back. You wouldn't want our lives to be boring would you? Quote

Expand That's what was meant by how both UPL and Peterka are playing tonihght. The only way that could happen now that Stillman is on the roster was to either send somebody else to Ra-cha-cha (not happening), trade a body for a pick (makes no sense), or put Dahlin on IR. Once Anderson got the start Tuesday, he wasn't starting tonight. They don't trust Comrie, so UPL had to be between the pipes tonight. So, some move had to happen. Had Comrie gotten Tuesday's start, Andy could've gone tonight and UPL could've "gone" to Ra-cha-cha. 1 Quote

Dahlin could be back on the roster since there's no limit after the trade deadline. This sounds a lot like a paperwork deal with zero implications. Unless, THE SABRES ARE FREEING UP A ROSTER SPOT FOR THE HUGE TRADE. 🙂 1 1 Quote

Expand What if KA is really trying to tank the team to get one more good lottery pick for his rebuild? Here is the thought process. 1) He knows even with a healthy team, Bos or Carolina would dispatch the Sabres quickly in the 1st rd. 2) He also knows the extent of Tuch and Dahlin's injuries and if both are out for weeks to come, it would significantly diminish the likelihood of the Sabres even making the playoffs. 3) He also knows that any pickup at the deadline that would replace Tuch and Dahlin would possibly decimate his pipeline and possibly his cap structure. 4) He knows that the remaining schedule is a beast 5) Therefore better to tank the team, give the kids max PT, and get the best lottery pick possible to give us more assets in the summer to use to fix problems or more draft capital to fix our lack of D in the pipeline. Expand I know you’re just spitballing, but I don’t think so. I believe the max positions a lottery winner could jump is ten. So it would have to be a catastrophic season collapse to be eligible for pick four or five through a lottery win. Current odds of the Sabres picking 15th are 98%. 1 Quote

Expand 12 years no playoffs eventually can get you FIRED if you don't make playoffs the next year. This years draft means nothing to Sabres for years to come. Last 4-5 drafts will make this team up for 5-6 years or more. Too many players, Sabres will be trading players for draft picks soon 5-6 years from now. They need a 1 dimensional RW D to go with Power, Need a Vet Winger for Cozens, Could use a #1 Goalie to go with Levi for future. UPL and Comrie NOT the Answer. We're spending next to nothing at the moment, and although we have a good lower pricetag on Thompson, all these prospects around the same age, if they are any good, they'll want to be paid around the same time and there won't be enough money to do that. Any team with a ton of high end talent (and high price) has to have a cheap bottom end. the luxury we have with all the rookie contracts won't last long. Quote
