kas23 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Yep. It’s an extra shot on goal in a deep draft for a guy who wasn’t going to sign. 3 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 D'oh. There goes my Portillo and Levi both sign and we dress 5 goalies dream. Good trade though if he's going to UFA. Heck, we could still sign him in the offseason. Now that we've got the 3rd we can trade it for Schenn. D'oh, again! 9 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Good, now we have a pick to draft Bloom's replacement. 🙂 3 2 1 Quote
Sidc3000 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Well i guess its ok to get a pick that will probably never play in the NHL than nothing when he walked in the summer. At least Adams can chalk that up as a win 👍 1 Quote

msw2112 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) The beauty of this deal is that Portillo could still play out his college career, become a UFA, and sign with the Sabres. It's highly unlikely, but could happen. In the meantime, let's get Levi signed as soon as the Northeastern season ends and hopefully the Euro goalie the Sabres drafted in the 2nd round last year develops into something (and UPL continues to develop at the NHL level). Given that Portillo was highly unlikely to sign with the Sabres, this was a smart move by the team. I'm a Michgan Wolverine, so I'm disappointed that one of my guys isn't going to join his former teammate Owen Power in Buffalo, but this is objectively a good move to get something for what would likely have amounted to nothing. Gatorman0519 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 At least we got something. But it is sad another prospect did not want to sign here. 2 Quote

True, but not for the same reasons that guys didn't want to sign in the past (dysfunctional bottom feeder playing in an empty arena). Quote
aristocrat Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Wonder what we did to make him not want to sign here? Quote

Scottysabres Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 There ya go folks. I'm told that 3rd pick will be slotted in to the 2nd defensive pairing, until it actually gets used on draft day for a Josh Bloom type player. Adam's successfully picked up a depth D and a 3/4 d pairing cardboard cut out stand in. Without spending high end assets in prpospects or picks. I'd say he's been quite successful. Quote

Night Train Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 I saw him up close in drills at Summer prospects camp at Harborcenter. Big but gave up rebounds. Didn't see "it" at all. Levi was quick and far better. No loss. He knew he wasn't wanted anymore. 3 Quote
