WhenWillItEnd66 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Have you ever seen such a stacked conference before with this many powerhouses? Boston - Best team in NHL Carolina - A very very close second and actually more scary then Boston. Rags - Maybe the best 4 lines in hockey right now with one of the best dmen and goalies to boot Toronto - ok, a first round hot mess, no goalie, but the trades helped them where they neeeded. The ass kicking by them was not a fluke. New Jersey - The best surprise of the year IMHO. insane speed and skill. and they got better getting Timo! A lot of those teams gave up a ton to get better, but they got a ton better!! I love our team but i just do not see them as a monster in the east, even with our great pipeline of kids waiting to come up. Not saying that we 100% cannot, but we have a major mountain to climb to get to consistent playoffs. 1 Quote
JustOneParade Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 The Eastern Conference playoffs are going to be ‘must see’ TV. The NHL should just award the Cup at the EC Finals. Don’t see anyone from the West getting in the way unless COL suddenly reverts back to last year’s version. Quote
Scottysabres Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Why yes, yes I have. Back in the late 70's and again in the mid 80's. It happens. But I won't compare any of these teams to that Gretzky Oilers Team, that was just disgusting. Quote

Kr632 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 This is like the AFC in the NFL as soon as the Bills were good. The rest of the conference caught up pretty quick. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Don't forget the defending Eastern Conference champions. Tampa is still there, just with few flashy additions at the deadline. The top 6 teams in the entire League by points reside in the East right now. (Granted, the next 8 teams in the standings by points are Western conference teams -- varying between 76 and 72 points.) PotentPowerPlay21 Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 The East has the top 6 teams in the league. It has been an absolute arms race in the trade market. It wouldn't be the worst thing if the Sabres miss the playoffs this year. The Sabres are seeing a blueprint on how to prepare for the playoffs. The real contenders are loading up on tough competitive players who are necessary in the playoffs. The Sabres are so ill prepared for the playoffs right now. The team has very little toughness and will easily get steamrolled in the playoffs this year. Kevyn Adams needs to makes this team tougher and harder to play against. They need some bottom six size and muscle up front and some much stronger bottom three defense. The future is bright if the team (KA) recognizes that what works in the playoffs is a much different animal than what works in the regular season. Quote
