Mr. Allen Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Just now, dudacek said: Zetterlund is better than Rousek. Or at least he’s bigger and faster and proven much more at the same age. That said, if those are the 2 best pieces, Devils made out like bandits And that’s exactly why I said I hope devils give up a lot. Because I don’t want to be mad thinking Adams should’ve pulled the trigger. Quote

He says someone is banged up enough that they are still negotiating. There is someone else going with Meier as well. Quote
GoPuckYourself Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 The hang up is Timo Meier's health, he has been injured recently and I'm reading that the Devils are doing their due diligence that it's not a long term injury or something nagging. Quote

thewookie1 Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Something tells me Meier played matchmaker with the Devils because of his Swiss friends being there. So we have thus far Meier + ?Player? for 2023 1st, Conditional 2024 1st, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Nikita Okhotiuk, Andreas Johnsson and Zetterlund Quote

tom webster Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 I’m sorry, I get all the arguments not to go all in for Meier, but if the return on this trade is what is being reported, this is, in my opinion, a big miss. They are not taking advantage of their unique cap position which will lessen as the cap stops being artificially depressed. This team is positioned to be a Cup contender as soon as next year and instead they are putting priority on acquiring more prospects who might be able to help in two or three years. 3 Quote
thewookie1 Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Pretty much nothing here matters; if Meier wasn't interested in signing in Buffalo it made any trade a mute point. Quote

Tom, question for ya. Seeing as this young crop of Sabres roster is just now entering the infancy of its compete stage, meaning playoff hunt and season sustainability with growth, what's the view 3 years out, when the core is seasoned and McDavids contract will be up? Maybe , just maybe, Adams doesn’t want to give up his next 2 first round picks for a winger. Maybe he sees a bigger position of need ? Quote
Flashsabre Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Who is Grier hoping becomes the “Tage Thompson” of that return. A lot of pieces but no clear “stud” Quote

Huckleberry Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Devils have 2 mil in cap space this season - Not sure about next season but I guess they will need to do some deals to fit him under cap. Quote

Huckleberry Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Hmm nevermind they have Tatar/Haula/Wood/Severson/Graves being UFA. So that is 17 million. Quote
