Doohicksie Posted February 21, 2023 Report Posted February 21, 2023 Oh no. Another losing streak about to start? Quote
Doohicksie Posted February 21, 2023 Report Posted February 21, 2023 So if someone gets hurt in warmups.... Asplund plays D? Actually, Asplund to the fourth line, Girgensons to D. He's the one forward that plays sound D when defending a rush, game in, game out. Quote

And the D plays the way they did in the 3rd vs the Snarks. Quote

They have 6 healthy D at this point. If they put him on the road right now, it is a callup and somebody has to (on paper at least) get sent down. Should somebody get hurt during the warmups, he could theoretically get called up but practically it can't happen. Quote

This is not a rhetorical question, it's real, about the CBA, NHL rules, etc.: They're not allowed to invite him to the game and have him around just in case? Quote

If HE wants to drive to Buffalo on his own, there's nothing stopping it. But even if he's there, is he going to be going through his normal pregame rituals? Will he have adequate time to stretch & get dressed before playing with no warmup? But if they tell him to come to Buffalo to be activated, they're paying him his NHL salary for the day, putting him up in a hotel, and they are either IRing Clague or sending somebody else down if they still have 6 other healthy D. Just because I like finding loopholes, and we know other teams exploit them, here's what I'd do as an asst GM, with the Amerks dormant until Friday: "Hey, Larry, how'd you like to grab dinner and see the game tonight? Oh, and bring your bag. We'd like to look at your equipment and make sure you have the right gear." If he has to play without a proper warmup, it's still better than having only 5 D. Or maybe he warms up in the dressing room for the first half of the first period. "Oh, I have plans." "Larry, I REALLY think you should come to see the game tonight." KA invited him up to have a face to face meeting about his future, and oops he was needed because someone got hurt in warm ups. Quote
