I think this is a great pick up for the Leafs given that they need to push for winning now.  Surprised they were able to make the salary work.  Minnesota only gets a 4th for picking up a 1/4 of his salary (seems low to me).

He somehow has managed to be a -24 in only 40 games played. It's hard to be that bad. That's worst of the tank year Sabres bad.

At first glance St. Louis retains 50% and didn’t get a lot back. Very late 1st, 2nd, 3rd, mediocre prospect and AHL fodder.

ROR has had a bad year but has the playoff chops and as a 3rd line centre is a good fit.Acciari is very underrated to.

Why on earth did Minnesota want to help out the Leafs like this? They're not a tank team and they are getting next to nothing for this deal? Bit shady if you ask me.

The Blues got a 1st in a strong draft class for a player who is obviously on the decline, that's a win for the Blues imo but the Leafs could get a boost if O'Reilly gets those legs going after being dealt.

Because Minnesota has an unused asset (the cap space) that expires at the end of the season and wanted to get something for it.

 Understood but if your ceiling is a B-, C+ team for like 20 years, you start a new plan.  Are you a settler with just making it ?  Obviously, Toronto is. 

Ours was a D for a dozen years but with Adams and Granato recently arriving, I will give them a chance to better themselves.
