matter2003 Posted January 22, 2023 Report Posted January 22, 2023 Who's next? This has been coming for quite some time, IMO. Seemed weird in the post game when we played and won having their GM talk about the team and the coach the way he was early in the year...almost like he already knew he was firing him, just had to wait for the right time... 1 Quote
Flashsabre Posted January 22, 2023 Report Posted January 22, 2023 It was embarrassing how they treated Boudreau there at the end. Do they really think Rick Tocchet is the answer to what ails that team? 1 1 Quote

Benning built a mess contracts (4th line of Eriksson, Beagle, some other guy) that made our LOG line look like a powerhouse in the midst of KO's injury-seasons, then went about extending Myers to a 5x$6M with no movement. Then traded those expiring 4th line contracts for OEL's contract. It was madness. Throw in an ownership group that doesn't have a clue... They want to be a playoff team when they should be unloading for Bedard. Horvat should want out. Pettersson should want out. Quote

Based on them dumping everybody they should in exchange for futures, they found the team could improve its Berard odds from the current 4% to a whopping 5%. 😂 Hurts to be a Canuck fan. *** To your point, I think we are starting to see a healthy Lyubushkin can be every bit as effective as Luke Schenn. Not interested in investing what would probably be a top 40 pick on a rental to play 16 minutes a night for 20 games. The trade made more sense when we didn’t have healthy defence core. 2 Quote

The Sabres have given up 45 goals in their last 13 games. They need better defensemen. Schenn is better than Lyubuskin and it isn’t even close. Who said Schenn is a rental. Why could he be retained if he is a fit here. We need playoff-Cup experience and our young D group needs a mentor. Quote

He was recently qouted as saying something to the effect that everyone knows cups are won with vet lineups and he’d be willing to fill that need. Quote
PerreaultForever Posted January 23, 2023 Report Posted January 23, 2023 Pretty much figured he was being set up to be a scapegoat when they didn't give him a long extension after the late season success last year. He won the fans over with that and then his personality made him popular. Fans in Vancouver definitely didn't blame him. Tocchet? Don't see him fixing anything. They have to fix their cap first so a dismantling has to happen. Whatever team can manage to work Horvat into their salary structure will get a huge lift for the playoffs. Actually made the conspiracy part of my brain wonder about the Pacioretty re-injury. Is he really made of glass, or are they pulling a Kucherov? Whatever the case, there's some big names out there and the deadline could be wild this year. Quote
