grinreaper Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 So, Florida was the Presidents Trophy award winner last year and a damn tough team to play against. Over the offseason they made some major player trades and switched out coaches. Why? Teams in most all sports compete for a championship by being excellent over a stretch of time and then getting lucky or injury free that gives them a real shot of winning it all. Systems and players tend to need to be matched up in order for management and coaching to be able to fit those players into their style of system. Indiscriminately changing the players, coaches and/or schemes over a period of time is what brings about long stretches of little success. Looking at the major sports leagues it has become apparent to me that the most destructive policies for franchises to take is to switch coaches and systems without giving what they have in hand a chance to develop and prosper. It's even more of a problem when potential players are being drafted many years before they are developed into the type of players they will be when they become adults. 1 Quote

Management overreacted to getting blown out by Tampa in the Playoffs. 1 1 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 Kind of makes sense. Florida's D was predicted to be their possible weakness prior to the season starting as they put too much money in their forwards and Bobrovsky. I mean Montour gets big minutes so what does that tell you? He gets a shot there but I wouldn't be surprised if they waive him themselves down the road a ways. The life of a journeyman. Quote

Barkhov not playing up to his usual standard. Reinhart also. Duclair had 30 goals for them last year and he hasn't played a game. That is a lot of missing offense from just 3 players. Ekblad has missed about 1/4 of the season for them, and when he has played he just isn't himself. And Bobrovsky's save percentage is about 20 points less than it was last year. That pretty much sums of 80% of their problems this year. Edited January 11, 2023 by mjd1001 1 Quote
LabattBlue Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 So the bad depth we have on the blueline, just got worse. Quote
Crusader1969 Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 Shoulda waived Bryson. Hope this doesn’t make Adams gun-shy from waiving him to give UPL a roster spot. 1 Quote

I’ll be waiting…and I am sure if it does happen, he won’t have an ounce of physicality, and be a PMD who doesn’t have a clue how to defend in his own zone. Two or less Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 The one thing that could have kept his job was fighting and he never fought this season not one single time. Quote

LGR4GM Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 Sabres claim Jost: meh whatever, he got waived so he's not that good. Sabres waive Fitzgerald: omg! What about our defense depth!? How will we survive without our 9th best defender? Fitz wasn't making this team better, time to move on. Sucks for the Amerks is all. 13 hours ago, dudacek said: Too bad. GASabresIUFAN Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 There will be more waivers to come around the league as more teams get ready for the trade deadline. Someone as good if not better should be available at any time if needed. No worries. Quote
