Adams has been adamant about UPL’s playing time and Comrie is part of the future. Yep. They have 13 games in 22 days coming up. Could see Anderson getting 1 game in that stretch, 2 tops. UPL gets 7, maybe 8 and Comrie the rest. The schedule gets back to that same compactness after the AS break through close to the end of March. Having a 3rd goalie up to take 1 every 8-10 games could be the smart play. Vinny, we hardly knew ye. Edited January 6, 2023 by Taro T Quote

Anderson offers the glue that allows Comrie and UPL to move forward. Maybe later in the season the decision will be made to move Andy. But for now, Vinny can be traded or waived and Anderson can pick up occasional games when the schedule gets tight and it's game 2 of a B2B. Anderson in the room is more important than Vinny in the press box. Quote
matter2003 Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 UPL starting to fade under a heavy workload the last couple games. Makes some great saves but also starting to allow more questionable goals again. 1 Quote

Eric the Red will be back in town soon and he will split the games with UPL about 60 - 40 with Anderson becoming the goalie whisperer from IR. Quote

Not thrilled with that...Comrie wasn't good when he played and allowed more questionable goals than UPL. Like legit WTF? goals. Goals that should never go in in an NHL game...and it was happening once or twice a game. Quote

Comrie started well but when the D started getting multiple injuries he wasn’t as good. He deserves another chance with the D healthy. 3 2 Quote

Well, right now he's playing like the 1 in Buffalo. REALLY don't see him getting sent down, but we'll know who's right in 2 or so days. And, IMHO, if he survives Comrie getting activated, he'll survive Jokiharju"s activation as well, but whether that's the case remains to be seen as well. Quote

But Adams still has the mindset that this is a building year and that they aren’t ready to compete for a playoff spot. 1 Quote

There's simply no way humanly possible to have watched this team and think they aren't ready to compete for a playoffs spot. That position is a denial of reality and a misinterpretation of what Adams says. He is identifying the core of a Stanley Cup contender (something the Leafs have yet to do). He has never said they aren't ready to compete for a playoff spot. There's many a slip twixt a cup and a lip and a large gap between playoff contender and Cup contender. As long as UPL is playing and winning games in Buffalo he isn't going anywhere. Vinnie Hinnie will not have a problem clearing waivers, and, frankly, who cares if he was claimed? He's not been missed in the lineup, and we have more young forwards in Roch than you can shake a stick at if the need arose. The entire fanbase would be justifiably shocked and outraged if UPL were sent down. Now, if he came out and layed 3 eggs in a row that sentiment would change, but Comrie looks like hot garbage. Adams isn't going to let him play unless he has to. 1 Quote

I believe the Granato quote was something like “we will not trade away winning long-term for a win tonight.” That is a far cry from “not ready to compete for a playoff spot”. They will make trades when the right trade becomes available. Don’t get me wrong, I think they need to add another defenceman too. The right defenceman. At the right price. In the meantime, they continue to climb back into the playoff race without a trade, and they will be adding a top-4 defenceman without one in about a week Edited January 9, 2023 by dudacek 1 2 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted January 9, 2023 Report Posted January 9, 2023 Comrie was 1/2 in 3 games with 3.03 and 0.898. Not dominant stats but only 3 games. How did he look? Was he moving ok? Quote

Expect that the players would notice Comrie getting stuck in Ra-cha-cha for an extra week just to allow management to avoid pulling the trigger on a decision they've already made; and they'd know that isn't he RIGHT thing to do. Management can't ask the players to dothe right thing & then not do it themselves. Expect they'll buy more trust & buy-in from the players by risking losing Hinostroza this week than by waiting to see if somebody gets injured 1st. 17 hours ago, Doohickie said: Maybe JJ or Quinn. (Unless it is strictly to get them additional playoff experience & still don't see that happening either.) Quote
