French Collection Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 Well, that was a satisfying roller coaster ride. What a game by Tuch, UPL and Cozens. Gutsy game by Krebs. 5 1 Quote
Popular Post Mango Posted December 31, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted December 31, 2022 This was supposed to be a Saturday afternoon, keep me busy kinda game. I expected a loss here. But man, a W?! This was one of the most excited Iβve been watching a Sabres game at home in maybe a decade. 11 1 1 Quote
grinreaper Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 (edited) As of the other day Tuch had played 82 games for the Sabres since gaining his health. He had 73 points in that time. His 4 points today sorta gets him a little closer to a point a game guy. The trade with Vegas is looking better and better with Tuch's skills and with Krebs looking better and better. Kudos to Granato for recognizing what his players need to progress and develop. I wouldn't be in a hurry to give up on anyone on this team. Edited December 31, 2022 by grinreaper 6 Quote

Thompson was nothing for the 1st 3 years post-trade and he was the only useful piece returned for a Selke winning Conn Smythe winner. Thompson was their 3rd rated prospect. He could've been had for a lot less than the Sabres gave up for him. The Sabres finished dead spanking last 3 years after they traded ROR away. As great as Thompson will turn out to be the 3 years of trash hockey we were subjected to has to be included in the ledger. Expand Iβm not disagreeing the first couple years post trade sucked. I made plenty of posts that were negative regarding TT. All Iβm saying is that over time and in the last year and half to two years itβs appears the Sabres won. Agree to disagree. Quote
Pimlach Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 And how about Krebs blasting Slacker Hall, then having to take on Clifton. After the fight he is smiling, shaking his fists as he goes off for repairs. The kid came back and played hard and no one laid a finger on him. You have to get respect in this league. How did Clifton not get the instigator? 9 Quote

While nothing is guaranteed with TNT, he's locked up for an additional 7 years at what looks like a very team friendly contract. Krebs seems to be finding his game too. O'Reilly is a great player and left a big hole when he went to St. Louis. As much as anything I miss his face off abilities. He was one of those vital pieces that got the Blues to make a run from nowhere to get into the playoffs and win the Cup. A wonderful trade for them but the Sabres weren't going anywhere even with O'Reilly on board. As it turned out it looks like it could be a great trade for the Sabres too and a win all around. Quote
triumph_communes Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 (edited) ROR won them a cup. They canβt lose the trade. History is just showing the Sabres didnβt actually lose it either. Thompson wasnβt their βthird best prospectβ. We got the best player in the deal, who is also the best player on either team. Edited December 31, 2022 by triumph_communes 5 Quote
