This is not the d-trade we're looking for. Best of luck to Laaksonen in his future endeavors.

Is it good for the Amerks?

Yes.  They get a player they can ice vs one they couldn’t.

They're a  little late to the party, but better late than never.

Very true.  Between work, wife, and kids, I barely have time to keep up with the Sabres, let alone guys on the farm team.  That's why I come here for information!  I'm familiar with Laaksonen, but wasn't aware of his current standing in the organization.  Now I certainly am.  Hopefully the local kid can make good.

Clearly KA cares more about the depth in Rochester then in Buffalo.  I heard Cecconi asked for the trade because he wanted to be here.

Adams says he is looking at everything.

The only negative here is that Laaksonen was our only D prospect in Rochester so you can read into this that they believe he is no longer projected to make the NHL.  In that case improve Rochester if you can.   With all the injuries forcing Clague and Pilut up, Rochester needs help.

Oskari fell outta favor last season.  Healthy scratch in the playoffs.  Healthy scratch 50% of this season.  He never got better and couldn’t be trusted in his own end, at all.

Bravo… KA got something in exchange for a lost cause… D-men take longer to develop… Kid has good size, a good college pedigree, played with Tage & Fitz a bit… If he can skate, embrace the Sabre system, and learn from Appert… He may soon be practicing and playing and learning from Dahlin & Co

These are always hilarious until they start to play well. Remember when Adams picked up Jost for nothing?

Jost was an NHLer, cecconi is a career AHLer. He just wanted to come home and ask for a trade so that checked off the  “wants to be here” box.

Dallas has been pretty deep on D and gone the veteran route on defense the last several years.  Wasn't likely going to get much of a look at the NHL level.  Was the Michigan Captain his senior year.  Who knows, maybe he'll turn into a serviceable call up.  Can't be much worse than the vermin we've been throwing out there.

Plus he has good size.

Since when  has Marchand joined the Sabres and switched to defense?

At least they took care to replace him with a right shot. It’s like they didn’t like Laaksonen’s shot at a depth RD role so bumped the process forward a bit to this guy

I think 6K is 3-1 in his last four, and now has a winning record on the year.

It certainly helps that the team has averaged 5 goals a game over that period. The one loss was, no surprise, was their worst scoring output (1 goal). He damn well better have at least 3 wins with that kind of support.

Now can we get a veteran starter over Bryson who hits everything that moves, I don't think it's too much to ask.

Lybushkin is that man

I think you and Dunleavy are the only ones I’ve heard refer to UPL in this manner.

A d-man that cannot/won’t play D. Laaks gets a needed change of scenery, but he’s very likely to be in Finland next season.

Cecconi is very unlikely to ever skate in Buffalo, but he improves the Amerks. And that is important too.
