The suspension is a bummer, but as others noted in the GDT, it's about time the Sabres inflicted some punishment for taking liberties with their goalie.  Danny Gare, a somewhat comparable player to Skinner, would've done the same thing.

Seems excessive. I think he will appeal it down to 2 games. Matthews got 2 for the Dahlin cross check last year.

I assumed it was going to be two games but Matthews didn’t draw blood

Does he have any suspension history? I have a hard time seeing that as worse than someone with a couple suspensions under his belt getting 2 games for trying to poke a goalie’s eye out.

He was suspended in 2012 for kicking Scot Nichol

Gare and Skinner are not very comparable. Gare would have beat the crap out of Guentzel

Wow...seems like a lot when routine offenders get one game for far worse.

How many games did the guy get for slashing the dude in the back of the head the other night??

UPDATE:. It was Leafs Pierre Engvall and he got one game...so Skinner gets 3 for a crosscheck and Engvall gets only 1 game for literally swinging a stick at the back of a guy's head??

WTF is with the NHL? Total BS.

It was a different game, then.  The stick-swinging prior the cross-check to the face would have drawn a much more severe response from both sides in Gare's day, let alone the cross-check itself.  It would have been a line brawl, at the very least.

Line brawl would've happened for the slash on Anderson.  Never would've gotten to the point of the cross check.

Danny Gare would have knocked Guentzel out and not been suspended at all unless he killed him. For that he would have gotten 3 games.

Not a chance. Gare would have punched his lights out man to man, face to face. As would have Dudley and a host of others back then. Spinner might have whacked him with his stick but we all know how psycho he turned out to be.

In no way are they comparable either. But that's a whole other topic.

After some thought I’ve realized three games is appropriate. Matthews got two games after he cross-checked Dahlin in the head during the Heritage Classic and that was without causing injury. Skinner caused injury so an extra game for that .

I thought 2 but not surprised.

"Seattle Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak was suspended by the NHL for three games for an illegal check to the head of Washington Capitals defenseman Alexander Alexeyev." Wash Post

Skinner got what he deserved.

lol, there is nobody on this roster that would take on Lucic now that he's old even, yet alone back then.

Does that make the entire Sabres organization, now and then, Hollywood Finocchios?

This is BS and always has been.  Two guys got on him immediately.  The linesmen split it up before Lucic paid the price, and the 2 minute minor was typical pro-Boston *****.
