We were the better team but PK and lack of a defensive system to close the game.

I agree with those calls, but why weren't they calling the hooks and slashes I saw Tampa players doing all night!!

I really feel bad for the kids; they outplayed Tampa 5v5 all game only to effectively lose thanks to the refs ignoring any call against us and randomly calling a penalty against us if Tampa was struggling

Tampa was dynamite on the PP and got 2 goals on their first 4 shots. If the refs call some "balance it out" calls, maybe the Sabres close them out. But the Sabres got a point and Tampa needed every ounce of energy and luck to get the game to overtime where it's a crapshoot. That's hockey.
