There's 5 guys on that list they should be able to land for the right deal.  What you offering? 😉

In other news. Water is wet. I certainly don’t expect him to telegraph any moves to media. Who honestly does? And I certainly don’t expect him to stray from his plan because some vocal minority of fans stomp their feet and want it.

Translation:  KA won’t do anything this season to help the team make the playoffs this season.  Oh well!

The funny thing is that a trade for a better 3 LHD is not likely to be pricey.  The only thing I can think of is that he wants Bryson, Fitzgerald, and Pilut to play all season to see what they have, come hell or high water.  IMHO, the team is close to the playoffs, it should not be much of an ask to forego the alleged development we will get for the existing trio in favour of an upgrade.  If nothing else, I would prefer Clague-Lyubushkin as our 3rd D pair.

Did he elaborate on what "the plan" actually is?

I know it's all about people who want to be here and the draft etc. but what's the timeline, that's my question. It all seems a bit vague.

It’s called “Waiting for Levi”.

Imagine the development they’d get from a round or two of the playoffs. KAs all wet. The franchise, the players, the staff, the city, and the fans are all jonesing for the playoffs. It would be immeasurable in terms of development to get there early as opposed to a hard line in the sand at some arbitrary point in the future inside KAs head.

Schenn has no trade protection.  He doesn’t get to approve a trade.  If Van trades him to us, he is going to play for us.

I think what confused the response to your prior post is the wording “Schenn has ‘no trade protection’” which makes it sound like he has a “no trade clause protection” as that is the common wording. Schenn doesn’t have a ‘no trade clause’ in his contract is what you’re saying.

As to whether we want to make that deal … Schenn is 33 and a UFA next year. No one is going to give up much for him. Unless they see themselves as a legit Cup contender. I can’t see anyone giving up a first for him. Especially in this next draft. But who knows …

He is definitely a target  but esp  in the off season. But the guy I really want off Vancouver is Bo Horvat. I’d go all in for him in free agency  absolutely the kind of player we need. 27. A captain. An excellent two way center with size and an edge.

We add Horvat, a strong defensive defenseman and that’s a team that has firepower to contend. And with our youth we have the money to spend - we are $17 million below the cap this year and expected to be $32 million below the cap next year. While we will have to lock up some young players the next 2-3 years, we still have plenty of spending power.

Love the idea of Horvat but think it’s highly unlikely.
Sabres and locked in with Thompson and Cozens as centers 1 & 2.  I can’t see them spending the money on a 3C that it would take to get Horvat

I don’t see them spending big money on anyone until Cozens , Dahlin and Power are locked in long term. May even add JJ and Quinn to this list

Time to revisit thread since we have started to see some separation in the standings. My new list of ideas...

Chicago-

Max Domi- could be a good 3rd line center, plays with an edge.  UFA after this year but could stay longer if he likes the fit. Close to his family and friends which is important to him considering his comments about Columbus.

Connor Murphy- Good top four defenseman with 3 years left on contract at $4.4 million.  I'd rather have him than Chyrchrun.

Columbus-

Vladislav Gavrikov-  How good would a 3rd defense pairing of Gavrikov and Boosh look?

Anaheim-

Simon Benoit-  still like this kid as 3rd pairing LD

Vancouver-

Luke Schenn- good RD who plays defensively responsible and physical

Nashville-

Tanner Jeannot- good two way physical winger, showed scoring glimpse last year but has not duplicated it this year.

Colton Scissons- good 3rd line center

Rangers will want a lot for him.  Way too much.
But I actually think he would fit in nicely here.

They probably want Dahlin, Thompson, Quinn, and our 2023 1st

Two proposals I came up with; the 1st actually garnered serious interest

Olofsson & a 2023 2nd for a team’s Top 10 protected 1st.

For a Western team in need of a PP specialist; especially if they have confidence they’ll make the playoffs, this would be an easy trade as they are merely moving down in the draft to acquire a player.

One I came up with was

Olofsson(50%) & BUF’s 2nd

to WPG for their Top 10 Protected 1st and their 2024 4th.

The second trade I came up with was

Bryson, Johnson and VGK’s 2nd for Roy from LAK
