If UPL can play like he did last season during his NHL callup, he'll win some games. His callup last year coincided with a massive wave of COVID + injuries. This year, he'll have a team that might be missing Okposo and Girgs, but is about to regain Muel. He could be a spark that gets the team going again.

Of course, last season he was playing well and then Tampa ran him and gave him an injury that lasted weeks. And no Sabres retaliated in his defense.

Aside to last night: I realize Dahlin felt bad about running the Senator into Comrie, so it's alright for him to check up on his goalie. But every other skater on the ice should have seen their goalie down and b-lined to the Senator for destruction. That's still the most alarming part of this team is the failure to stick up for each other as a team. It can't just be one guy once in awhile.

Even in a "it's the result of the play, not the intent nor even the reason for the play" league, it is really difficult to justify pounding on the Sen when Dahlin sent him full force over & through his goalie.   Without Dahlin having a Risto moment UPL is still an Amerk.

Yes. Even if it's Dahlin's fault, you still go after the Sens player. He needs to be told not to go crashing the net against your team or there will be consequences. 

If (insert minimal Sabres 4th liner... Krebs)    If McAvoy puts Krebs into Ullmark, or if Hedman puts Krebs in Vasilevskiy... do you think Krebs just is allowed to skate back to the bench without a confrontation?  They'll gladly take the penalty to send a message, and their entire team would wake up for the next dozen shifts as well.

Don't agree, which is fine.

There are degrees to most plays and for an assisted crashing into a goalie it can go anywhere from a Pens 'ooh, we brushed shoulders, now watch the shoulder-first dive through your goalie's mask' to a 50-50 thing, to what we had here where the Sen was not going to even be in the crease had Dahlin not done something you teach your Squirts not to do - don't drive your opponent through your own goalie.

If McAvoy does something that painfully stupid, though the expectation is that Jack Edwards would call for Krebs' immediate execution and praise St. McAvoy for defending his goalie from the intruding horde (huh? Wtf were you watching, Jack?).  Unless one of their power tools like the Rat Faced Git were out there, Peyton probably survives the incident.  And this is all the most hypothetical of hypotheticals as it is truly doubtful Krebs has the puck on Kincaid's doorstep w/ both McAvoy and the 1st line on the ice.  😉

I’ve made my opinions on him quite clear. I don’t think he’s very good. But I have nothing against him, and wish him well. Honestly hope he does great and the Amerks get Subban as starter the rest of the way.
