With all of the capital we have, there's no excuse for not offering some up to bring in another top-4 defensemen. I didn't bellyache standing relatively pat in the offseason because of the momentum built in March/April & because he probably wanted to see what some of these guys can do. But, once the breakdowns occur like this, you have to address them...especially when you have the assets to do so. 'Muel being out hurts because I think he's probably our best straight-up defender, but even when he comes back, you're still icing Bryson who is just not a guy who should be seeing regular NHL minutes. Go get a good veteran to play 19-22 minutes a night.

Exactly. We have the capital. Converting a little for the now is really, really ok.

If all we do is stockpile for the future, the catch 22 is that said future probably doesn’t come

Posting it twice in one day.  The longer a rebuild takes, the greater the chance that something goes wrong.

Omfg....I'm so sick of players and coaches constantly saying "it's a tough league" or it's "hard to score in this league". What a bunch of horseshit!!! Between the Bills and Sabres that excuse is worn the ***** out. Just about every other team in either league seems to do just fine.

I know, all those other teams have winning records. -)

Sorry Thorny, but my honest opinion is that this team is spinning it’s wheels. Do they look better than the disasters of the past decade? Perhaps. But what does it matter? Other teams in the division have also improved and we’re seeing another instant replay of seasons past. Done by US Thanksgiving again. I really thought it would take until about late February at the earliest for this season. Nope. I wish I shared your optimism. They have beaten it out of me now.

So I come off as the pessimist to many when I’m preaching caution to being cup ready in 2 years, so people don’t get bamboozled, and the optimist in the GDTs when I remain moderate and the other extreme takes hold.

I see how it is.

Was just messing with you dude. I’m pretty beaten down as well. But keep hope - season is still early and as I said in the GDT* - the community of us fans is the true boon

*EDIT - im being told this *IS *the GDT...

Absolutely. We’re not even spending to the floor on actual players. I just hope (pray) that it truly is a “keeping our powder dry” scenario and not something else.

I don’t even consider the alternative - we’d have no hope

Don’t get me wrong. I believe there is a nice bunch of talent on this team and in Rochester. I like Donny G in general but now I have my doubts about the coach yet again. I cannot figure out why this team continues to crap the bed in November. I believe in October, Sabres opponents aren’t sure what style of play they’re facing. Come November, opponents have plenty of Sabre game film to look at and make adjustments on countering the current style of play. What the hell else can it be?

Hell, get on the horn to Arizona and see what they'd want for Chychrun. I don't think his no-trade clause kicks in til next year. If not him, maybe Gostisbehere. Gost is a UFA after the season, so he might only be a rental; but might be had for a bargain. Not sure Gost would help us a ton defensively, but at least he can move the puck and is great on the PP.

Not just me, everyone.

You honestly don’t remember discussions about how our good play at the end of last year was only because it was in garbage time of the season, after we were eliminated?

😂

Honestly I don't remember board content from anyone that long ago. Good for you if you do.

I also had a 72 hour ban for about 3 months around that time sooooo.

I still think there's a real psychological problem with this team when they go into these losing streaks.  When the pressure is off they play much better.  Invest in additional Sport Psychologists.  Another tough November so far.

The problem isn’t between their ears.   The problem is Bryson and Pilut can not play in the same game

maybe you can get away playing 1 of them but not both.  lyubushkin is still hurt and Joker is in his first game back, doesn’t help

no way power and Dahlin can play together an entire game.    Please come back soon Mule!!

add in avg goaltending at best and your gonna lose

Adams needs to make a move for another Dman and not another 5’10 puck-moving dman but a big body Dman who can actually play D.

We need a good goalie also. Comrie is at 3.65 gaa And Anderson is well on his way to being over 3 gaa. Tuff to win consistently when you have to score 4+ goals every game. Would be nice if our goalie would steal a game now and then as well.

On either the 4th or 5th goal while killing a penalty, Bryson and Pilut allowed a player to skate in home free from the blueline and score.  These guys should barely be on the ice, let alone on the PK. They both suck.

Please don’t tell me you think only Buffalo pro teams say those lines. They are very very common lines.

No *****. But most teams don't say it year after year after year and so on. It's such a constant theme in Buffalo sports.

You almost got the score correct. Good call.

Agreed on Pilut and Bryson big time. Pilut needs to go back Sweden and become a car detailer this hockey thing ain't working for him. Bryson should be traded for a pop tart they're equally soft

No, but they don't keep feeding the fans the same old ***** excuses. They actually try and improve their teams every year, except for maybe Arizona. The same excuses game after game are worn out. ***** do something for once. Going on what, 11 years now? I'm really sick of this *****.

How forking hard was it to "don't take dumb penalties?"

Apparently pretty friggin' hard and they gave up 2 PP goals & a 3rd goal pretty shortly after killing off the 1st penalty.  Those were the difference in the game.

What an annoying game.  Fortunately couldn't go tonight and gave the tix away.  Feel bad for the kid that went to his very 1st NHL game tonight.

At least they're scoring and getting a ton of shots on net.

They need a defensive specialist coach. You would think that scoring goals would be harder than preventing them

I am told that DG had them playing a freewheeling and open style to “help development “ of their skills.

It is time to instill a system to help keep goals out of our net.  The team is better than what we are seeing.
