Doohicksie Posted July 16, 2018 Report Posted July 16, 2018 I don't. Not since I started riding my bicycle; I feel like if I can ride in the heat, I can drive in the heat. Quote

Do you drive like Ace Ventura with your head sticking out the window? Because if not, you're at least feeling the breeze when you ride a bike. I had my previous car for 15 years. I would have kept it for even longer but the AC died and I traded it in that very weekend. I can deal with lots of stuff but not having AC will never be one of them. Life's too shot to be that uncomfortable. Being in a hot humid environment with no relief makes me stabby (to loosely steal a quote from inkman, we've, or whomever I stole it from). Quote

Another sticky one today, eh. Quote

And I’m bot going to sit in a 100 degree car when the technology to cool it down is on the dashboard of every vehicle made. That’s masochistic. Then again, so is long distance bikes ng when there are perfectly serviceable air conditioned cars available for the trip. Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 It's all in getting acclimated to the heat. It took a while but it doesn't bother near as much as it used to. I will say this: When I get to my house, that had better be cool. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 I got home yesterday and saw the heat index was 109. I ride my bike to and from campus - I didn't even think about the temperature on the way. It's crazy how you can get used to it Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 Yep. Plus if you ride regularly, you get some legs.... the rides don't bother you near as much. I rode to the neighborhood association meeting last night. Another guy rode, and he suggested we ride over to a bar and have a couple ginger ales. Afterwards we were riding home and I just powered up the hills and had to wait for him. He doesn't have the legs. Quote

Hot and muggy weather irritates the hell out of me. I'm surprised there aren't more stabbings in places like Florida Mississippi, Louisiana, etc. 1 Quote
North Buffalo Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 They’ve gone in NYC area in last 2-3 weeks based in ER stuff and local news... people get stupid and angry in the heat. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 23, 2018 Report Posted July 23, 2018 Here we go again ... https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/ns-19_metric_e.html I am really starting to think that there is something to this global warming thing ... ? (nudge, nudge ... wink, wink) Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 23, 2018 Report Posted July 23, 2018 We had 111 yesterday, it was still 100 at 10 pm. Quote

dudacek Posted July 23, 2018 Report Posted July 23, 2018 (edited) It rarely gets above 32 or below -5 here ( that’s 90 and 23 for you people who stubbornly refuse to adjust to the rest of the world.) and those are extremes, like they happen 4 or 5 times a year. Edited July 23, 2018 by dudacek Quote
ubkev Posted July 23, 2018 Report Posted July 23, 2018 I'll take 85 all summer long and 25 all winter long. I do love my 60 degree fall days. And spring can be skipped entirely, just extend winter. Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Cold front came through yesterday. It's supposed to get up to only 98 today. Quote
MattPie Posted July 25, 2018 Report Posted July 25, 2018 There is some flooding going on around SE PA in places I haven't seen it before. I too live on top of hill. Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 Some relief from the heat, and possibly the drought. On my commute this morning the temperature dropped 5 degrees ahead of a band of showers (that is so far skirting around us ? ) Quote
