The Eichel 2022-23 Thread: "I'm not bitter -- I'm just interested."

To jump to the conclusion that based on his caustic comment about the franchise's attendance during his time here (which is true) after being unmercifully booed throughout the game as being an insult to the entire community and its hocky history makes little sense. If you want to boo your guts out that is your prerogative. When he returns to Vegas he will be playing in front of capacity crowds and playing on a Cup contending team. I'm sure he is ecstatic about where he is now at.

You continue to focus on his remark about the attendance, when it’s WHAT HE SAID ABOUT IT BEING THE LOUDEST FANS HAVE EVER BEEN that’s the insult. But you have reasons for needing to overlook that part of his remark, I’m sure.

I don’t give two craps what he said about attendance. As a season ticket holder, he can kiss my ass in that regard. When he played here, I showed up for every game, win or lose, and gave my full effort to cause. Eichel certainly didn’t.

I also don’t give two craps about Vegas fans, who’ve only ever known winning, filling the building. Let’s see how rabid they are if they ever have to suffer thru more than a decade of losing futility.

I’m sure he’s ecstatic having such a dedicated fan defending his classless remark. Enjoy rooting for Jack and the Golden Knights this coming Thursday and in every game they ever play after that.

Even if/when the VGK's start losing. T-Mobile Arena will still be full...with opposing fans. The casinos will buy up the tickets. Surprised pro leagues waited this long to come to Vegas.

That might be the last time we beat Carolina.

As for Thursday, here's the ticket count as of now.

FYI Bruins Saturday has fewer than 100 tickets left. I have a feeling there will be a lot of black & gold in that crowd.

I'll be rooting for the home team. I won't be wasting my energy booing any player on either team. I'll leave that chore up to the boo birds.

Regardless which team's fanbase shows up, a full house is better than a half a house. The energy and back and forth between the factions make the atmosphere more charged and exciting.

With respect to the seating chart you posted are the blue colored seats the sold or unsold seats? If the white seats are the unsold seats that would be disappointing if it remained that way.

I’m sure Eichel will appreciate those loud throngs of opposing fans cheering for the visiting team. I’m sure it will remind him of Toronto games in Buffalo.😂

I don’t believe that for a second. I get the impression you’ll be watching with bated breath ready to cheer on  Eichel and the Knights to victory while chiding any fan who boos him.

Seriously, why don’t you ever address his full post game comments? Your failure to do so along with your constant defense of his comments leads me to believe you hold us fans in just as much contempt as he does.

I listened to the same post game comments that you did. You found then to be offensive and outrageous. I didn't. I had no problem with anything he said after the game. You and others are giving it more attention than it deserves.

You haven't accurately described my many responses on this topic. I have repeatedly stated paying fans have a right to cheer and boo as much as they want. What I find obnoxious and weak is that the same fans who booed throughout the game react as if their mothers were insulted by his comments. What these whining and sniveling snowflakes don't understand is that when you throw crap you shouldn't be surprised when it gets back thrown at you. I find this crybaby hurt act to be unappealing and silly.

I have said on numerous occasions that I have no animosity toward Jack. I wish him well.

Blue dots are unsold seats. Red dots are resale seats.

According to that chart I can see 12K to 13k attending the mid-week game. It seems that slowly but steadily the numbers are moving up. That would be progress.

It's definitely a step up from 5-7K games (that looked like 1-2K in house) last year, but VGK is a marquee game.

You obviously did NOT listen to the entirety of his comments if all you can glean from them is that he had something to say about attendance only. He said much more. You just don’t wanna hear it and I’m done with trying to get you to understand that. Enjoy your Golden Knights fandom. I think we are done here.

Yep.  Expecting a lot of mini pack holders chose the Vegas game as one of their 5+ games.  Hoping they decided to go to 2 in a row, but expecting a big chunk of those tix sold Saturday are B's fans.  Still a pretty fair # of them in Ra-cha-cha from them being the B's farm club prior to the Amerks becoming the Sabres feeder back in '79.

Why was it right that he trashed the fans?

Lol dear lord the poor fans

We trashed him, right? Sorry, the 20-something is expected to take the high road while the boomers *rightfully* anonymously lambast him on message boards and Twitter?

I don’t care about people taking their shots at JE anymore, it’s nice to have a villain, but the pearl clutching at one solitary comment from the guy in the television box who actually, god forbid, reacted to the vileness being thrown at him is HILARIOUS

It goes both ways. Give it; take it. The lack of self awareness is striking

After being booed throughout the game he pointed out after the game how few fans attended Sabres games last year. That pointed barb was true. Fans have a right to boo, and he has a right not to like it and candidly respond about what he thought about the boo birds.

Fans are in their feels.

His barb back wasn't about just last season's attendance, it was about his entire tenure and it was a crock of doo doo.

Everything said about Jack was accurate though right?

Great poster, not your best post

What was inaccurate about the post you gave a big X to?

And where was there any reference at all to what was said about him?  The post you reacted to was in reference to another poster saying Eichel was right in what he said.  He wasn't correct and the poster my post responded to has been incorrect as well.

There were many games the home crowd was loud when Eichel was a Sabre.  Was it a majority of times?  Absolutely not.  But he was not correct and whatever his motivation for stating that was not addressed by yours truly.  Merely pointed out he was wrong, and actually full of doo doo to be honest, in what he said.

I just hope that we win against Vegas this week.  Eichel..................cheer him, boo him, don't care, just as long as we win the game.  Hoping Dahlin is back and effective and that it's a good home win.

I gave it an X because everyone knows the truth of Jack’s statement wasn’t relevant.

It wasn’t relevant to him.

It was so, so obviously always besides the point. Jack took the shot at the fans *to take a shot at the fans.* It wasn’t about what he believed - how anyone can’t see this is truly beyond me.

A kid, a kid in his feels that was gotten to, hurt, “mad bro”, all of it. Childishly lashed out after getting booed by 20 000 grown men for 3 hours.

Was it a gentlemanly comment? Was it correct? Anything but sour grapes?

Of course not. But there was clearly, clearly vileness being thrown in his direction, a lot of it. Dislike Jack - who cares, it’s sports: but don’t disingenuously *pretend* that the dislike stemmed from a comment directed at the poor fans. (not saying YOU are, just a general comment)

Jack saying that line gave the fans EXACTLY what they wanted to hear.

You know this.

To you, the truthfulness of the statement doesn't matter.  We don't agree.

Have not trashed him.  Actually enjoyed watching him play when he was healthy and do still have fond memories of plays he made.  But will not let him lie about his time here without calling a spade a spade.

And want Vegas to miss the playoffs because the Sabres hold their 2nd round pick.  After this year don't really care how they do provided they lose a certain 2 games each year.

There are those who want to parse his emotional laden words in a post-game interview as if his comments were made in a legal context where word selection and precision matter. His remarks were made after an intensely fought game where he was relentlessly booed throughout the game.  And as you point out the faction that is most outraged is the same faction that relentlessly harangued him throughout the game. Spare me the faux pas outrage!

I watched the same post-game interview that @K-9and others witnessed. They were disturbed by it; I was not. The player candidly stated how he felt about the experience. The player's response certainly was not diplomatic but it wasn't out of bounds considering the context.

The discussion on this topic has been exhausted and has become circular. However, what amazes me is the intensity of the responses and its lingering effect for a brief interview that happened a year ago.

I was intent on not engaging you any more, but since you felt it necessary to call me out, I’m compelled to respond.

Per the bold, what an inaccurate crock of crap! I’m certainly among the “most outraged” and I didn’t boo Eichel AT ALL during that game, NOT ONCE. Nor did anyone sitting near me.  Indeed, we applauded his tribute video, as did many others in attendance that night. So, in addition to being a full of crap masshole, Eichel has selective hearing as well.

Other players who have departed the team after unsuccessful runs have often expressed regret to the fans for not being able to turn things around. Classy. Compare that to Johnny, who did the exact opposite and blamed the loyal fans instead of owning the fact that he and his teammates just weren’t good enough to get the job done.

Johnny is fortunate that he was traded to an already great team who has only known winning success since they entered the league because he certainly doesn’t have the right stuff to be a player to build around as he proved here.

I just asked PA why he thought Jack's blasting of Sabres fans was rightful and there you go with your obsessive defense of Jack Eichel.  I am interested in why PA thinks that.  Your opinion on anything related to Eichel is well documented.

Then you go blaming the baby boom generation for the onslaught on Jack.  Do you really think the majority of the twitter and message board fans are boomers?  If you want to talk about a lack of self-awareness, or any awareness, then look no further than yourself.
