Barry Trotz taking over

Trotz is a great coach.  Will be interesting to see if that carries over to the other side of management.  Not a slam dunk it will.

What’s crazy is he had a neck once.

So, when the hair went it all went under the skin between his chin and shoulders?

You'd think they'd have a cure for that by now.

I think KA knows it as well. The “extra year” and the “not blocking a prospect” were just spin after Linus bolted. Analytics experts would scoff that he wouldn’t make up 8 points but even 4 at this point puts them solidly in the playoffs with a puncher’s chance.

The analytics experts who would scoff need to look up from their stat sheet and watch the games. Stats are a tool---not religious tenets that devotees feel an obligation to adhere to.

Be interesting to see how much they ended up giving up.  Last night the HNiC guys were saying they doubted there'd be an extension in place before a deal would get made.

LeBrun confirms there is no extension as of now

There was factually less parity. It was factually easier to be a dominant team based on the construction and make up of the league during the Habs hey day

is it just a COINCIDENCE those dynasties existed and are now a thing of distant legend? We will never see another Habs or Yankees run again, ever. Because it’s impossible: that’s demonstrably an unequal comparison playing field.

The Habs just *happened* through luck and genius to be able to put together a run no team will ever come close to again? Just unheard of managerial aptitude? And then the oilers and islanders put together runs of 4 in a row and 4 in 5 years in the next decade just coincidentally? The era favoured and facilitated dominance, there was less parity

The 70s Habs were in the prime window of the last of the pre-draft players, where the Habs had the rights for every 12 year old that could skate and lived east of Kingston via their Junior affiliations[0]. IMHO, that's what drove that dynasty more than anything.

[0] I'm partly joking about the scope
