I think the odds are 4 out of 8 a Western Team will take the Cup...haha

 

This is bizarre though.

 

What is true however, is that whichever Eastern Conference team makes it to the Finals, they will have home-ice advantage. At that point, home ice is determined by # of points, not seed number. All 4 Eastern Conf teams have pt totals ranging between 113-101. The Western Conf teams remaining have pt totals ranging between 99 and 95.

Not 1-4 in one and 5-8 in the other. The East had the top 3 seeds eliminated in '98 and '99, but 4 beat 5 both years.
