Curt Posted August 19, 2022 Report Posted August 19, 2022 Nice. Wonder if he’ll join the Amerks for this upcoming season. Quote

French Collection Posted August 19, 2022 Report Posted August 19, 2022 He had a nice year in the WHL. He played a bit in the Covid-19 season. There will be a lot of hits and misses from the ‘21 draft, way fewer views/games and practices. Quote

nfreeman Posted August 20, 2022 Report Posted August 20, 2022 Is he the guy who shows a lot of potential but is a slow skater? And he's not eligible for the AHL this year, right? It's either WHL or NHL? In any case, team captain, 2nd-team all-star and 33rd in the WHL in scoring in his D+1 season (remembering that Savoie was 7th and was in his D+0 season -- yeah baby!) isn't too shabby for anyone, let alone a 7th-rounder. Also, he's from Souris, Alberta (population: 1876). 1 Quote

Limited sample size, but in Portland @ Seattle this season, Kozak was the best and most noticeable player on the ice (minus Seattle's goalie). He was physical, he was fast and engaged, and one really nice assist. He isn't an offensive dynamo, but he's a 200' grinder with purpose. 3 Quote
Happy Days Posted August 20, 2022 Report Posted August 20, 2022 Doesn’t he have to wait another year until he is 20 to play in the AHL? Quote

He is slightly undersized at 5’11” and a little thin, but he popped in the WHL last season after being drafted. He is pretty fast, a little feisty and decently skilled. Looks like a really good 7th round pick likely to be an AHL player at least. He is eligible to play in the AHL this coming season. Edited August 20, 2022 by Curt 3 Quote
nfreeman Posted August 20, 2022 Report Posted August 20, 2022 Excellent. So if he’s eligible for the AHL now and had a very good year last year in the WHL, it seems likely that both the Sabres and he would prefer the AHL this coming season, innit? The rumors of a bare cupboard in Rochester seem pretty exaggerated at this point. Quote

He is an ‘02 born prospect, and is AHL eligible because he turns 20 this year. Bloom and Nadeau were also drafted in ‘21 but are ‘03 born, so they must return to the CHL. They have all signed their ELCs. 1 Quote
