Lawyer.  Partner at a noteable Toronto firm (kind of dubious practice area).  Cornell University.  University of Ottawa Law School (***** Laude).  Not too shabby atoll.

At that level, which is management, pro hockey experience isn't exactly a requirement. Outsider might even be better to call the old boys on their BS. This seems like something at Hockey Canada that desperately needs doing.

It's an unwritten rule (maybe it is written somewhere, but not for all to see) that a poster should never make a reply about the poster, but about the post.  Two veteran posters here addressed this very issue by countering the content of the post without making it about the poster.

Kind of predictable they'd name a woman as chair for the optics. Hopefully she does a good job. 

The NDA thing is the big issue now. It's certainly been the case in the past to hush everything up so that the player(s) in question for any incident don't get publicly outed but maybe that will change now and people will be held accountable. Maybe.

She is only interim chair, until November. It may be difficult to implement much change in that timeframe. Hopefully she has some great leadership skills and gets the gig full time.

Oops I misread the article it wedged her hickey career between soccer and grades and then later had a statement about her hockey history. Just poor writing all around. It dragged on about diversity hire and went on and on about it before her CV. I’d be pretty pissed if I was her about that.  
 

and uhh yeah it’s pretty important to have played hockey. Suits who can’t crawl in the business they’re in are all failures. Lots of management programs force new people onto the floor for a year before letting them advance. It’s the same deal.

None of the commissioners of the big 4 sports played at a high level.  VERY few of the owners of teams did--Jerry Jones, Michael Jordan, does Lemieux still own part of a team?

Agreed. These aren't management that are like one or two levels up from the employees doing the work; the best managers I've had in that situation are the ones that did the have experience doing the work first. At the level of Ms Skinner's hire, you're managing the department heads and lawyers and public expectations. Having grunt-level experience might help here, but it's less important than being competent at working with people and politics.

I must have missed where you vigorously reviewed the CV of the previous director of Hockey Canada to make sure he had suitable qualifications of, "played hockey", too.

I mean, the previous director, Michael Brind'Amour (no relation, apparently) has a storied career: https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/252760/michel-brind-amour (I assume that's the same person). I can understand the let-down from that pedigree.

I never said high level. High school/ club college is plenty.  My initial misread was never even actually playing
