That’s why I hate when people keep talking about saving cap space for future signings. Good teams know how to navigate it. 2 1 Quote
Eleven Posted July 8, 2022 Report Posted July 8, 2022 We here at SabreSpace DraftNet believe that he projects to be Duncan Keith. Quote
Chevyvanmiller Posted July 8, 2022 Report Posted July 8, 2022 In his prime he was an elite player. Wish him the best in retirement. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted July 8, 2022 Report Posted July 8, 2022 Cap recapture is such a weird thing. Player signs with Team X, gets traded to Team Y years later, retires from Team Y years after that, and Team X eats a stiff cap penalty. I suppose the lesson is don't frontload contracts. Quote

Team X is the one that got the benefit so it makes sense in that way Quote

You can push it down the road some and maintain with cap gymnastics but at some point the piper will be paid. Chicago for example, although they went to extreme in their tear down, Dare I say Buffalo tank for McDavid/Eichel extreme Other teams will be forced to make tough decisions, some will prolong for a little while longer, some will start the inevitable decline. People been saying this for years. You can keep the guys you want if you are smart about it. Chicago made some stupid decisions. Quote
Huckleberry Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 Well this works out perfectly for Chicago though, easy to keep reaching capfloor while tanking. Quote
