Dump & Chase Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Numminen is out. Hecht - something is wrong. He was a no show for 2 games now. Dumont seems lame for some reason. He had 1 good shift in game 4. Roy seems timid. Vanek played better in game 4. Afinogenov was terrific IMO. The PP needs to have Guasted parked in front and shot and get the rebounds. Connolly should be on the half wall with drury on the other side. Simple style, forget the smoke and mirrors.
MJhockey Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Afinogenov was terrific IMO. You must have been watching a different game than I was. Max was HORRIBLE last night.
Stoner Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Max wasn't terrific and he wasn't horrible. His end to end rush in the second period shifted the momentum of the game dramatically. And he came within a whisker of being a hero when his shot went off the post or crossbar. But the turnovers were egregious. Ryan covered up for the worst one, right in front of his own net, with a nice save on Handzus, who had a nice game. Players like Handzus, who were anonymous in the first three games, are emerging, and that worries me. The Flyers without a doubt are climbing on Forsberg's back. Maybe the reason Dumont wasn't all that great was Gauthier's stick right into the ole surgery site, a perverted version of the game "Operation." By the way, his argument that it was accident looks even worse now that we learn the two are "friends." It's that much more likely now that Gauthier knew exactly where the hernia was, perhaps through a "friend of a friend."
Allan in MD Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Roy and Vanek have got to step up. We do have guys playing hurt. Roy looked like he didn't want to be there on the penalty shot.
Stoner Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 What does that mean -- didn't want to be there?
Allan in MD Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 He looked tentative, unsure of himself. It wasn't much of an effort, when the team really needed one. Of course, much of the Sabres' effort following the first period left much to be desired - cheap goals, bad passes, bad penalties etc.
LabattBlue Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 You must have been watching a different game than I was. Max was HORRIBLE last night. With the way Max finished the regular season, I expected him to explode on the plodding Flyers defense. I thought he was fairly invisible in games 1 and two, had a couple of assists in game three and made a HORRIBLE decision in game four trying to stickhandle past two Flyers at his own blueline and no goalie behind him. YOU NEED TO STEP IT UP TODAY MAX!!! GO SABRES!!!
