ExWNYer Posted July 6, 2022 Report Posted July 6, 2022 - Mitts is dealt either at the draft to move up in the 1st Round or at the in-season deadline for pieces as the Sabres sputter due to an unsettled goalie situation. - Anderson retires at mid-season and UPL becomes the de facto starter the remainder of the way. GASabresIUFAN Posted July 6, 2022 Report Posted July 6, 2022 (edited) Here is a semi bold prediction: prospects Johnson and Portillo get traded during the draft. KA uses the 9th overall pick and one of the prospects (Johnson) to move up to 4 and takes Nemec or Jiricek. He then takes Snuggerud at 16, but then trades 28 and Portillo to move up to somewhere around 22 and takes either Kulich or Ostlund. Edited July 7, 2022 by GASabresIUFAN 3 Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted July 7, 2022 Report Posted July 7, 2022 I'm seeing Matthew Tkachuk speculation on Twitter this morning. Is that anything? Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 7, 2022 Author Report Posted July 7, 2022 I dunno but there seems to be quite a lot of it... but also a lot of "Adams committed to slow, methodical rebuild" stuff too. Quote

sabresparaavida Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 1. Mitts wins the 2C job and puts up in the neighborhood of 55-65 points. 2. The defense performs as a top 5 unit in the league, but due to the goaltending and less than defensively responsible forwards, the Sabres end up around average for goals against. 3. The Sabres finish with 88 points, 6 points off the last playoff spot (94) Quote
ddaryl Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 1.) Goaltending will be marginally better this year. Comrie proves he may be a keeper 2.) Power, Dahlin Samuelson (Sabres D core) prove to be all that and get accolades from the press 3.) Sabres will be in the hunt for a playoff spot come March, it will be close but they miss by a few points 4.) Tage will do well again this year 35 G 40 A, but does not surpass 40 G Quote

We still have Johnson and Portillo and we drafted both Östlund and Kulich. So with Comrie and Lyubushkin in the house, I feel better about our playoff chances, despite the progress other teams made as well. Both prediction. Comrie is this year's Husso. The Sabres win 44 games end up with 95 points and grab the last playoff spot. Quinn is a top NHL ROY candidate scoring 25 goals. Power has a good, but more subtle year with 7 goals and 28 assists. Skinner leads the team in goals with 35. Thompson does well again with 33, but adds 40 assists to top 70 points and lead the team in scoring. Mitts breaks out with 22 goals and another 33 assists. 1 1 1 Quote
GoPuckYourself Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 Hey if we’re being bold then Eric Comrie turns into Carey Price (I won’t ever say Hasek since there is only 1 slinky). Dahlin, Power, Lybushkin, Samuelsson, Jokiharju and Bryson form the best young d core the league has ever seen before. Quote

Price behind the best young d core ever would be tremendously hard to score against. Quote

SABRES 0311 Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 I say the Sabres make the playoffs but get eliminated in the first round. This provides our core with experience and confidence. Secondary is higher tier players take notice of the team’s direction and become more open to coming to Buffalo. 2023-24 season is when we start making annual pushes deep in the playoffs, in large part to better players signing on. PromoTheRobot Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 If the Sabres aren't ravaged with injuries again, they will be in the playoff hunt all season. 1 Quote
