French Collection Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 Savoie gets a pair of assists and is named second star in Winnipeg’s win last night. Bloom and Nadeau are held pointless in their games Quote

lothar Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 I'm still in shock that GMKA told us Levi had a 40-inch waist. Is that a goalie equivalent to NFL running back Earl Campbell's 36-inch thighs? Quote

LGR4GM Posted February 7, 2023 Report Posted February 7, 2023 Interesting news that will impact Noah Östlund. His much higher touted draft and teammate injured his foot and will be out basically the rest of the season. Could mean more opportunity for Östlund. 1 Quote

Of note at the time of injury, Östlund is 4th on the Djurgardens IF HockeyAllsvenskan team scoring with 21 points in 28 games. His fellow 1st-rounders and WJC linemates Öhgren (17 points in 30 games) and Lekkerimaki (9 points in 29 games). For comparison, the leading scorer is team captain Marcus Kruger (40 points in 40 games). Yes, that Marcus Kruger! He of 2 Cup victories as a 3C on the Blackhawks back in the day. Quote

What is also interesting is that Östlund has another year on his deal but that is only if Djurgardens get promoted back to the SHL. If not he can terminate and leave which paves the way for him to come to the AHL. Personally hope Djurgadens gets back up to the SHL. To put Östlund's production in context, if you limit the Allsveskan to u22 and sort by PPG, Östlund is 1st. 1 Quote
French Collection Posted February 10, 2023 Report Posted February 10, 2023 Olivier Nadeau scores 4G & 1A tonight in a win vs Ottawa 67s. Neat scheduling to get a game between a OHL team and a QMJHL team. This rivalry has been around for years, now called the Alexandra Cup. 1 1 Quote

Even better from the Nadeau side is that in the 17-18 games he's played (depending on when the QMJHL site updates), Gatineau is 15-2-1 since his return. They were already good at 18-10-3 while he was out with the injury rehab. But since he's back they've jumped to the top of the standings. Only 3 of his 24 points this season are on the PP. Flashsabre Posted February 10, 2023 Report Posted February 10, 2023 (edited) Winnipeg Ice storm back to win 7-6. Savoie with a goal and an assist. The thing with Winnipeg is their offence is so spread out. No one racks up 4 or 5 points a night. There are a ton of guys with 1 or 2 points. One aspect of Savoie’s game that isn’t talked about is how strong he is at faceoffs. Edited February 10, 2023 by Flashsabre 5 Quote

You want Östlund to be stuck in the SHL next season? If I'm reading your post correctly, if Djurgardens returns to the SHL next season, Östlund can;t void his contract. If they stay in the lower level Östlund can void his contract and join the Amerks. Don't you think the Sabres would prefer Östlund to play in the AHL over the SHL? Or do you think his contract would slide another year if he stays in Sweden and that is why you want him back in Sweden? Quote
