Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 One thing I've noticed about Miller is his tendency to allow these kinds of soft goals. The Sabres were in town for an open practice and scrimmage 2 weeks ago, and he gave up 2 ultra soft goals. But, they just came back from commercial break, and it is 5-3! Jinx that! :P
Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Power play goal for the Isles. 5-4! 6:20 to go.
Corp000085 Posted October 6, 2005 Author Report Posted October 6, 2005 satan gets a slashing penalty.
Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Buffalo on the power play, as I think Miro is headed to the box. 5:00 to go. Minnesota up 3-0 on Calgary.
Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Afinogenov was wide open in front of the net and DiPietro makes another great save, and now he just got tagged for Hooking. Isles will get the PP.
Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Nail biting time. 2:30 to go with 1:00 to go in the Isles' Power Play.
Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Miro get back in the box!!!!!! Gaustad with the intercepted pass and Satan yanks him down, with about 2:00 to go!
Spandrel Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 1:00 to go with the Sabres on the power play. DiPietro out of net.... Afinogenov with the empty netter! 6-4 Sabres!

mphs mike Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 It's only one game but our Swordsmen played well. They hustled, looked quick, and peppered the Isles net all night. Initial thought is that the rules to open the game up look like they may work. We'll see if the refs make the calls all season they did tonight. On the negative side - we had two, two man advantages and were unable to score. I believe we were 1/10 on the power play. That will cost you some games.

Yeah, they'll need to improve the PP production, but at least they moved the puck well and had some good chances. DiPietro played well and saved a couple of goals.

DiPietro played well and saved a couple of goals. Yeah, DiPietro made some sick saves on the power play and our lack of production on our 2-man advantages was not from a lack of shots. On a few of those power plays, they were just bombarding DiPietro, and he made some nice saves. That being said, you are right that that kind of PP production will cost you against the better teams.
Larry Playfair Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I didnt see or listen to the game, and just read through the scoresheet. Nice W sabes! We need momentum out of the box. Any analysis on Miller's play? I heard he let in a soft goal on a dump in from shitnik. Other than that? Sounds like dipetro stood on his head?
