Granato more interested in end of season meetings to hear about how players felt about where they were. Granato says entire coaching staff was present to discuss things with players.

"Unleash Dals (Dahlin) competitiveness" "He more wanted to please the coach and I more wanted him... get in the moment and do what you do and we can tweak from there" Granato

***** Ralph Krueger.

idk who is asking this question but it basically is trying to toss Risto and Reinhart under the bus. Granato doesn't take the bait and mentions both Risto and Reinhart were great for him as coach and also wanted more out of practices and higher standards.

oooo there is a good comment.

Granato asked about when he took over after the losing streak (when Kreuger got fired) immediately mentions that guys now feel like they can be themselves. Gives credit to Okposo and Zemgus specifically for setting the tone. "You don't have to be serious all the time, you need to be serious when you need to be serious." "It is through very very good leadership."

Paraphrasing.

Major shift from when Don took over from players believing they can and should win. Didn't have that when he first took over.

KA on goaltending:

Says Anderson what he brings every day is great. His presence in the locker room and in practice is very important. Mentions Anderson knows how the Sabres feel about bringing it back. Anderson will have some time thought to think about stuff.

Says he is very excited for the internal answers to GT. Mentions UPL is a major part of that. Really likes how he battled through the end of the year, says good maturity. Injuries can be flukie but we have to ask why.

Obviously guys like Devi Levi is very special. Levi wanted to go back to school because he wants the pressure of being the top goalie in the country and working through that.

Sabres will look at different options but won't do something that will block things down the road because they are excited with what they have.

Adams did not mention Portillo. Take that how you will.

Ryan Johnson looks like he will go back to school. He is leaning that direction but Adams is not concerned.

We got the Eichel, Risto, Reinhart question and how them leaving allowed the team to grow. Adams talks about culture of wanting to be in Buffalo (community and on the team). The RJ stuff was a good history lesson on what this place is all about. Want to identify ppl who want to be here and be a part of something special. But also wanted to look at players who are younger and want to be placed in positions to succeed.

Mentions that Power fit in by picking up pucks after practice and water bottles and trying to be a team first guy right off the bat.

Kyle and Zemgus get another shoutout as being leaders.

KA: Comfortable if Vegas had made the playoffs. Adams expects to make 3 picks and won't trade one for a short term fix. Need talent that comes up from Rochester to be impactful (can't rush them) and accumulating assets is important. Is open if right opportunity presents itself. Expects to make all 3 first round picks though currently and believes in building the pipeline.

Always looking to improve.

Will try to work on that personally over the summer if he can.

(Repeating his long standing mantra) Not looking for quick fixes, so he expects to use all 3 #1 picks.

Vegas game was a growth opportunity because of all the talk around the game and how the lights were a little brighter. Looked at it as a growth opportunity for the team to handle pressure. Players elevated for other important games such as RJ night or the outdoor game or the last game.

In terms of the Vegas trade itself. Krebs and Tuch are unbelievable ppl, they love the game and being Sabres. Really excited about the ppl and hockey players they are. Thinks Tuch has another level to reach and Krebs did good but is hungry to get bettter. Thinks it is exciting and in Adams opinion they just couldn't compromise on the trade because they knew what they needed to get.

How validating was the Vegas game & what they got from those 2 returning pieces?

Vegas game was a playoff level atmosphere so it was a "great growth opportunity."

Adams talks to the team about earning the trust of the fanbase and being a team that ppl can get behind. Believes it is the Sabres job to be entertaining and fulfill the fans needs.

Krebs has another level.  He's hungry to get better.

ST - what is the message to the fans?  We're going to try to get you a team you can get behind.  Still a long way to go.

Power is very smart and can analyze his own game. Thinks the 8 games will be invaluable for Power to learn over the summer.

Power was asked what the biggest difference was. Most guys say the game is faster or players are stronger, Power noted that players are smarter.

Power finding out that NHLers will pick off that pass that appears to be there after 1st look over the shoulder.  It works in college, not at NHL.  (Example of players being smarter.)

(Another repeated theme)  Need to be reating everybody the right way, right down to the interns.

(So, he ends w/ thanking the reporters for their professionalism.)
