The Amerks, clinging to playoff hopes, take on the Comets.  Every game at this point is a must win.  Will need some help form other teams but the Amerks need to take care of their business.

So does the OP's comment mean that even if the Amerks win out, they still need help elsewhere to make the playoffs?  I looked at the AHL standings and it looks like they currently hold the final playoff spot in their division, but other teams have games in hand.  I don't know how the AHL playoff system works, but IT APPEARS that every team makes it EXCEPT FOR the last 2 teams in each division.  Beacuse all of the divisions don't have the same number of teams, more teams make it in some divisions than others - you simply need to NOT be one of last two teams in the division.

I think a playoff run in Rochester would make a big difference in the development of many of the Sabres' young players, particularly for UPL in net, so I am very interested in them making the playoffs.

It's complicated because its point percentage, not points; teams are playing different amounts of games this year.

That said, they are in now (barely), so if they win out I doubt they can be knocked out.

Thanks for the explanation - the AHL website is not overly informative on this - at least it wasn't obvious and I didn't take the time to dig.

Peterka streaking into the zone between Comet defenders. Quinn with a slick feed springing him loose.  Amerks 1-0.

Different angle

How does a team fighting for it's playoff life constantly come out flat as a pancake and get comically outshot in the first period of virtually every game? Seth was a bad college coach and is now a bad AHL coach.

Because they don't have enough talent to make up for not playing at 100%, 100% of the time

Appert is a joke. Don’t give me the BS excuse about roster either. Taylor would have pushed this team into the playoffs.
I’ve renewed my seasons regardless of making the playoffs but JFC, Appert is no developer of talent.
