You want buffalo to sign him long term when hes done this 1 time ? Buffalo should take the risk and see if he Repeats it

Better then your original idea of just trading him

ROR won a cup while the Sabres missed the playoffs, so unless Tage becomes a #1 all around right wing that helps carry this team to a cup, ain't happening.

Well... this got more realistic

He can't sign until July 1, I think.

Idk what he'll be at by then so unsure but 6mil range seems right

Lock him up longterm at that rate before all the other young players get here and he becomes even better than he is now.

Theodore

Another LHD?  Theodore is a good player but the Sabres are pretty loaded at LHD and pretty thin at C.

Do you not think TT is a legit #2 C, if not a #1C?

Also, Vegas isn't going to trade him.

I was curious on how the other 2 top prospects that Jbot considered from Stl were doing this season.  Like Tage, Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou have fully blossomed this season.  Both are now pt a game players, but more playmakers then goal scorers.  Thomas has 60 pts in 60 games with 14g and Kyrou has 63 pts in 63 games with 20 goals.  Also both guys are under contract for one more season.  Tage, while not a pt a game player (yet?), is by far the goal leader of the 3 with 32 in 68 games (tonight not included) and 57 points overall.

I wonder if all 3 guys’ next contracts will be semi based on the others?  Regardless, all three guys will be expensive to re-sign.  If Tage scores 30 again next season, I’d expect a contract similar to Dahlin’s bridge deal.

Tage only has one more RFA season upon completion of next year. So it won’t really be a bridge. You’ll be buying out his potential foray into UFA territory. If he scores 30 again next year, it’ll be expensive.

Next year, he will almost hit 40 goals.

I don't think the Pegulas will back the money truck up for anyone again after one season of big numbers (after Skinner) so there won't be any talk of extending him until mid season at the earliest and then only assuming he is performing at a similar level.  Nobody will get big long paydays unless we start winning for real.

Hopefully he doesn't get any ideas about a skinner contract

Tage or VO? I just hope they find a way to keep both and keep them happy. Tage might be a superstar and VO might be just a notch below.

But out every. Time I think of a long term contract like they probably should get, Matt Moulson skates by in my head. But gotta do what ya gotta do

He’s looking and playing like a $10 million man.

And VO looking like a $5 million man.

Just pay them.

For TNT to get a 10 mill contract is going to have to put in 40 goals and add at least 50 assists next season.  If that happens, sure pay the guy.  I don’t see him hitting those numbers despite the 32 goals ytd.  If he puts up 70 points next season we should be thrilled and that will earn him 7.5 for 5 years.

VO’s deal is definitely looking like a 4 year 5 mill deal

I think the late, great George Harrison put it best:

…it’s gonna take money

A whole lot of spending money

It’s gonna take plenty of money

To do it right…
