dudacek Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 Hot take. Devon is going to outplay the Euro-scrubs, get a game and never give up the crease. He’s coming home with a medal. This will be his mainstream coming-out party and he will be signing his first pro contract shortly afterwards. 2 1 1 Quote

Seriously, he could be the best of that bunch. Medaling will be tough, some Euro teams can ice some decent clubs. Quote

Go Full Monty. …He starts in 7 of the Sabres last 10 games winning 6, burning his first year eligibility. His performance gives pause to Adam’s thoughts on UFA and goes a third year without acquiring a legitimate starting goaltender; however this time it pays dividends when Levi comes to the ‘22 training camp and wins the starting position over UPL in an unforeseen campaign to win the 2023 Vezina award. 1 1 3 Quote

They play that on a Chinese Checkers style rink? 😉 Wouldn't that be something, having 2 rinks laid out crossing each other w/ 4 teams on the ice and teams can score on any of the other 3 teams' nets. 1 2 Quote
steveoath Posted January 24, 2022 Report Posted January 24, 2022 I'm not sure my brain could handle that lol. 1 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted January 24, 2022 Report Posted January 24, 2022 Chinese checkerboard is 6 points... So each opening preliminary round can become a single game. Divide Group C's teams across A and B, and voila! The 6 teams with the most goals at the end of the preliminary games advance to the Gold Medal game (6 teams). The three highest-scoring teams earn medals. You can complete the Olympics in a fraction of the time. Prelim Game 1: Canada, China, Germany, Finland, Latvia, USA Prelim Game 2: Czechia, Denmark, ROC, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland Quote

W/ only 2 overlapping, it's not just a circle w/ weird little chunks removed at the individual rink corners. And, could use 3 brackets w/ your idea w/ the highest scoring 2nd place team becoming the 4th in the medal game. 1 Quote
Brawndo Posted January 24, 2022 Author Report Posted January 24, 2022 The IHFF accidentally tweeted out the Canadian Roster earlier today Owen Power, Devon Levi are both on the list https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/mistimed-tweet-leaks-mens-canadian-olympics-roster/ Quote

French Collection Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) I read a list of Slovakia’s team. Draft eligible Nemec and Slafkovsky are on the team. Craig Ramsay is listed as their coach. https://www.sportsnet.ca/olympics/article/mens-hockey-rosters-2022-winter-olympics-tournament/ Edited January 25, 2022 by French Collection Quote

This is not a great looking roster for Canada. Maybe someday we will get to see the best of the best for each country play in a tournament. It's overdue in my opinion. Quote

PerreaultForever Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 There should be 6 more names added, as they've announced a sort of alternate/taxi squad of 6 per team. Quote

Digger Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Not a bad deal for Eric Staal. Play in the Olympics at the end of his career which should be a good experience and if he plays well he will get one more chance in the NHL to play for the Cup. Quote
