Personally, if you don't touch he player's hand, knocking a stick out of the opponent's hand shouldn't be slashing.  Breaking the stick?  Yes.  But just knocking it out of his hand?  Weak sauce.

I think I agree with this. Especially because if you come up and knock a guys stick out of his hand, they never call slashing.
