If the management expected to win with the goaltending they chose to go with this year we are in bigger trouble than we thought. It’s far more reasonable to conclude they didn’t expect to win. I’m guessing you must know the answer. Quote
Pimlach Posted November 14, 2021 Report Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) Attendance was 7,992. Can’t believe we lost that point in the last 11 seconds. Sure, the goaltending was poor. But that goal could have been avoided with smarter and physically stronger play. Edited November 14, 2021 by Pimlach 2 Quote

He was flat out awful this evening. Butcher needs to go as well. Miller was to blame too. Samuelson and Power will be taking these guys spots next year. Bryson looks much better than them as well. 4 Quote

They won’t try to upgrade and it’s a real shame. This team is playing much better than anyone including their own management expected. How long is Anderson out? Quote
Popular Post PerreaultForever Posted November 14, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted November 14, 2021 I normally don't like blaming goalies because more often than not it's bad team D and they take the fall for the whole thing being the last man but really, Dell is absolute sh#t and shouldn't be playing in the NHL at all. With any form of decent goaltending we beat them tonight handily. They seem to play well against the fast offensive type teams and match up well. The hard D physical ones have been the bigger problem. Cozens did the job again for the most part. Very promising stuff all around, except in goal. Overall what I see mostly in terms of an early season assessment is this team is finally being coached. We haven't been coached like this since Lindy and it shows. Nothing special, just basic hockey fundamentals, good passing, good positional play, teamwork, proper line changes, better utilization of players and their skills. Maybe now that certain people are gone these guys just listen better and do as they are told, or the leadership has them in a better spot or it's just proper coaching, but whatever it is, it is the beginnings of a better foundation. For the first time in years, I feel encouraged and optimistic. F the Leafs. They were lucky. 12 Quote

kas23 Posted November 14, 2021 Report Posted November 14, 2021 I really don’t like the NHL’s handling of injuries. I get it, privacy. But, these players aren’t exactly private citizens. It would be nice to know exactly what injuries they have and how long they will be out. 2 Quote
Flashsabre Posted November 14, 2021 Report Posted November 14, 2021 The name I see is available is Korpisalo but he has been sub .900 sv percentage the past 2 years. Vladar was the guy I wanted before he went to Calgary. Who can be a short term upgrade until Anderson is back? Quote

But it is well known that those known injuries are then heavily targeted by players when the recently injured return. Watch players go after Eichel’s shoulders and maybe even his neck “on accident” in the corners in March. I bet it happens. 2 Quote

Stoner Posted November 14, 2021 Report Posted November 14, 2021 No player or coach interviews after the game. Interesting. Wonder if they closed the old lockerroom. Granato can't let them "learn to lose." 1 Quote

Well you don't obviously, but they didn't try when numerous goalies were obtainable (before the drafts) and right now I can't think of anyone of note who might even be available so I doubt it. I still do not believe the plan is to win now. This year is the end of the dismantle and the beginning of the rebuild. All they want this year is to create a foundation, create optimism, and have a stocked cupboard. Winning now would actually work against them. Quote

They are playing a game that is sold to spectators to watch. These injuries are a direct result of said game. Spectators should have an idea of their work-related injuries. Quote

Tuck this one away and use it when I say they are fine with their goaltending. i’m going to go ahead and make the radical suggestion that a Stanley Cup champion and a former USA hockey development coach know exactly what we have in goal and they have a reason to do what they’re doing. It may not be obvious to us, but I’m certain there’s a reason. 10 minutes ago, kas23 said: I really don’t like the NHL’s handling of injuries. I get it, privacy.
