Whoops -- read one place too far.  But your point is correct: we need to take C's more often higher in the draft.

Girgensons, Grigorenko, Reinhart, Eichel, Mittelstadt and Cozens — that's 6 1st round centres in 8 years.

Also took Asplund and Conor Hurley in the 2nd in that stretch.

Our issue isn't drafting centres, it's developing them into NHL centres.

Potentially five or six out of six of seven seems pretty good.

I myself was specifically referring to the last 2 drafts.

Only 2 of the above factor into the future top 6 plans of the team and I want better than to be relying on only 2 players to fill the centre spots. Krebs is a great start, a high-end C in the draft I think rounds it out nicely.

Girgs, Reinhart and Asplund are wingers, Cozens TBD. Grigorenko and Hurley are busts.

We developed Eichel and Mittelstadt as NHL centres, assuming the recent Mitts sticks.

This topic is OLD. A NEW topic should be started unless there is a VERY SPECIFIC REASON to revive this one.
