Is "loaned to" the normal terminology?  Is that the same as saying he was sent down?  Anyway, looks like he's almost back from injury.

In Ye Olden Days, "loaned to" your farm team was either to get you back up to game speed after an injury or a "conditioning assignment" for those who are useful on the big club but needed some playing time.

So in essence, the words frame it as Samuelsson is a Sabre, not an Amerk, and will be with the Sabres after a few conditioning games.

Loaned, to me, implies there is a borrower.  ie. a temporary user.  The Mule will be coming back.

And I like that we have an obvious nickname The Mule when The Foundation is a thing.
