There's lots of Rossi talk and I get it. There's even some Lundell talk.

But we have Jack Quinn and I'm not saying he's gonna be better than those guys but since his hernia healed he's really starting to settle into the AHL and JJP is a great linemate. The point is, I think Quinn is going to be fine even if we wait another year or two to see it.

I agree and have been fine with the pick. Watching Rochester vs Toronto as I type this. The future looks bright.

Within a year or so the Sabres will add Peterka, Quinn, Power and Samuelsson to the Buffalo roster. Assuming that there will be a Jack trade another player or two could be added to next year's roster. The rebuilding strategy to grow the young core is being executed. Stay the course.

Tnere’s no probably about it and there never has been.

Yep.  It's always been expected that he'd be good.

The biggest reason that people would rather have seen Adams take a C is that at the time there were no high ceiling C prospects in the pipeline other than Mittelstadt & Cozens & only Asplundv& Ruotsalainen as guys that have played there that might be up by about now.  There was a greater need for a C and there were several that were rated higher than Quinn.

Add on that since the trade deadline of the Covid stopped season they've had the following C related transactions:  (not saying all were high end C's, just that they're moves of C's):

In: Staal, Eakin, Sheehan.

Promoted: Asplund, Ruotsalainen, Cozens

Out: Johansson, Larsson, Rodriguez, Staal, Sheehan, Reinhart

As good as out: Eichel

Remaining: Mittelstadt

Swapped from wing: Thompson, Girgensons.

There was and is much better W depth.  The need was C, there were C's available, & they went wing.  They added to the well-stocked shelf while ignoring the 1 that was and still is looking fairly barren.

IMHO, there isn't the same angst about grabbing Peterka because there weren't other C's available there that are expected to do what he looks like he's going to do.  If there were then there'd likely be some discussion about how that pick was misguided.

Hopefully they both end up 1st liners.  It'll really help with the trajectory of this rebuild.

If it's a Jack trade they should be getting at least a quality player now and a high talent prospect to go with picks.

Seriously? Are there not enough threads about Jack Eichel for you?

Edit: I mean this in a joking way btw. Not sure that was clear.

In 3 games he has 4 goals and 2 assists. He’s fine.

Peterka in 3 games has 1 goal and 4 assists.

As much as I would love to see these guys come to BUFFALO next year and have the full season on ROC, you can’t help but wonder if the Sabres would call them both up at somepoint.

with how they play as linemates, do they call them both up together?

Next year. Give them time.

I think Quinn will be "fine" but also "fine" isn't good enough for us to get better. We need to start getting the best player in drafts not just a guy who is "fine".

Totally agree give them both till next year. Let them play a whole season in the AHL. Get all the minutes and situations they can. Not like we’re playing for anything this year.

only thing I can think of is maybe real late in the season, for a few games for experience?

Arguably we got the best player in this past draft.

And, at this point in time, it’s still too early to know who the best player was in the last three, maybe four drafts. We can have an opinion, but it’s still too early to call

I agree with your point that you don't know for certain who will turn out to be the best prospect. But I qualified my comment with the word arguably that he was the consensus best prospect. Even if other players turn out to be better than he turns out to be I still consider his selection as the right selection at the time.

What are you basing “fine” on? Why not good, why not great?  He is playing injury free finally and tearing up the AHL early.

A long time ago a lot of posters were down on Reinhart and one day I posted in every thread "Reinhart will be fine" and hence the call back to Quinn being fine.

I like Lundell. He is an excellent 2 way forward who can put up pints and play great defense. He blocks shots and wins face offs too. He can do everything well.

I think you should post here more often.

That's all.

Maybe later I will read your post ...

Keep it up, it is working well so far.😀
