You claim someone off waivers to play NHL

If so, would have liked a right shot. And someone who has played more than 21 NHL games in 2 years.

61 in his career and he's 26. Don't think he's an NHLer, regardless of what they plan to do with him

Except for finding goaltending. 😎

Who is out there that’s so demonstrably better that will radically improve our situation in goal?

How does the IR work in the NHL? How much time is Joker going to miss? I know in football that means at least 3 weeks…

From Cap Friendly: When a player has an injury of which they are expected to miss a minimum of 10 NHL games and 24 days in the NHL season, the team can place them on long term injured reserve (LTIR). LTIR can be used to exceed the salary cap. LTIR is a very complicated aspect of the NHL operations and the vast majority of details are not specified in the CBA.

If you are expected to miss 7 days you can be placed on regular IR.  That designation can be made retroactively.

When on regular IR you still count against the salary cap but don't count against the 23 man roster limit.

I'm hoping Samuelsson recovers fully enough and looks good enough in a tuneup in Rochester to come in for Joker.

(Specifically, I thought Butcher did fine today, but I didn't like Pysyk, and I'd like to see Samuelsson take Pysyk's spot.)

His stats don't tell much other than he hasn't played much in the last couple of years.  I wonder how they plan to use him?

I hear he's a premier 7th D.

I want to see options.  I want players competing to be the 6th rather than 7th D.  I think that's what KA/DG are striving for.
