1) Leading scorers - Goals, Assists and Points  - Mittelstadt leads in points (56) and goals (25).  Dahlin leads in assists (45) and is very close to Mitts in points (52)

2) Team record - 30-45-7

3) Team MVP - Dahlin

4) Team ROY - R2 - becomes move valuable as the soon goes along and forces his way into the top 6

5) First Player traded - Butcher - gets outplayed by Bryson.  Sabres trade him for a 6th.

6) First player recalled from Rochester - Murray

7) Surprising in season move (trade or acquistion) - KA acquires a goalie when Anderson gets hurt because UPL and Dell are struggling in Rochester.

8.) Best surprise player - Hagg, plays a simple physical game and reminds us of McCabe.

9) Biggest disappointment - Cozens - struggles and gets sent down.  JJP called up to replace him.

Any other bold predictions (or not so bold).  Jack never returns and is traded for a 1st, a medium center prospect, a conditional pick and a cap dump at the deadline.  KA also promoted and Karmanos becomes the GM.  Miller and VO also traded at the deadline.  We get a 4th for Miller and a conditional 1st for VO.

7) Surprising in season move (trade or acquistion)

When Seattle finally tries to sneak him through to the A, the Sabres pounce.

8.) Best surprise player

Routsalainen

9) Biggest disappointment

Eakin playing in the 1st 22 games before suffering a season long knee injury.  (The disappointment is Eakin playing that many w/out getting benched.)

Any other bold predictions (or not so bold).

Tokarski under his 2nd season of Bales tutelage actually does a reasonable Ullmark imitation minus the fragility & wills the Sabres into the 70's in the standings.   Anderson plays well in his 26 starts.  Finishing 29th, they surprise the hockey world landing 1 of the 2 lottery wins.  Arizona wins the Carrion but still can't win a lottery.  Krackers finish 30th.

You don't see him getting moved ?

I would be scared of his contract if he hit 29 goals.

Every season, before it begins I set up a spreadsheet with the full schedule and take a guess at the record. I have a Conservative Estimate and a Hopeful Estimate. Last year I literally just spammed W, L, OTL due to the schedule screwing around so much thus so far I'm 2 for 3 in surrounding the final point total.

For this season:

Conservative:  24-32-13 for 61 points

Hopeful: 35-18-16 for 86 points

Now for the general stuff:

1) Leading scorers - Goals, Assists and Points

Mitts (24 goals), Dahlin (44 assists), Mitts (59 points)

2) Team record

28 - 36 - 18 for 74 points

3) Team MVP

Mitts (24 goals, 35 assists, 59 points)

4) Team ROY

R2 (15 goals, 15 assists, 30 points) in 68 games

Peterka (9 goals, 10 assists, 19 points) in 38 games

5) First Player traded

Eichel to CGY for Monahan, Dube, Zary and a '22 1st that moves to '23 if he doesn't play this year

Monahan is moved without playing here

6) First player recalled from Rochester

Peterka

7) Surprising in season move (trade or acquistion)

Olofsson, Miller and Bjork are dealt

8.) Best surprise players

Okposo and Girgs restart the OG line with a new friend

9) Biggest disappointment

Cozens struggles with being 2C and is sent to Rochester akin to MItts but when Mitts should have been.

Any other bold predictions (or not so bold).

Sabres actually turn out to be a thorn in the side of many teams throughout the season and finish 3rd from the bottom ahead of Arizona and Anaheim.

Buffalo wins the Lottery

While record isn't great, most forum members actually feel pretty good as to where the team is going.

The Analytics Department grows in the Front Office and shows more influence as the year continues.

Olofsson - 27G; Dahlin - 38A; Mittelstadt - 58P

2) Team record

26-47-9   61 points

3) Team MVP

Really tempted to say Hinostroza as a glue guy on a competent (if overmatched in their own zone) first line. Instead: Dahlin

4) Team ROY

R2 Ruotsalainen

5) First Player traded

Eichel

6) First player recalled from Rochester

The diminutive defense gets collapsed leading to net-crashing and tweaked goalies. UPL isn't ready so early in the season. The answer is Dell.

7) Surprising in season move (trade or acquisition)

Bjork sent to waivers and claimed elsewhere

😎 Best surprise player

R2. Someone has to step up for the...

9) Biggest disappointment

Skinner. Hard to be the biggest since he's consistently been disappointing. But yes, he'll be right back down on the 3rd/4th line just like every one of his previous coaches has done.

Any other bold predictions (or not so bold).

Cozens joins Girgs and Okposo and they become the COG line and make us happy.

OH look !

GA has another doom and gloom thread!

I'm so surprised!

What in this thread is doom and gloom?  I simply asked for people's predictions for the team. I predicted strong seasons for guys like Dahlin, Mitts, R2 and Hagg.  Not sure how that is doom.  Many people have predicted worse seasons then I did.  How is that my fault?  Others have predicted we'll compete for a playoff spot.  I have not judged or criticized any opinions on this thread other then yours.  If you would like to predict a Stanley Cup contender, by all means please do so.
