This is why Adams has to get a goaltender in order for his plan this year to work.

The team is skating fast and playing hard, but not executing very well.

Good goaltending has them down 2-1 or 3-1 with the game very much in reach and the youngsters still feeling empowered to try things and gain confidence.

Bad goaltending and they start squeezing sticks, rushing things or backing off.

It’s hockey psychology 101 and if Anderson or Dell can’t step up, Adams needs to be held accountable.

Very well said. It’s like the Texans yesterday with no quarterback

Any of the goalies @GAsabrefanlisted that are available would be a massive improvement.

It's more than poor goal tending though.  The power play looks pretty poor so far.  I imagine that we may be giving up short handed goals or at least chances.  The guys are not strong on the puck, easy to push off, Butcher bouncing off his guy (Jenner) in front of the goal was classic sad.

Don't expect any changes to the goaltending situation. These guys will just have to accept that there's no help coming, either in net or anywhere else on the ice. It'll suck at first but they'll get used to it, expectations will be adjusted accordingly, and playing for moral victories will be the raison d'etre.

Right now, their best option in net is friggin' Tokarski.  Yes, Anderson is better, but if he plays 7 of the 1st 10 games, we'll watch the GTing equivalent of Pominville turning into a corpse in front of our eyes over the next 10 games.  Give Craig the toughest games, but give Dustin the bulk.

And for the love of all things holy, put a waiver claim in on any guy with a pulse.  Even better, trade for a ####ing goalie.  These kids are not going to progress as they should if they can't play a normal coverage scheme in their own zone.

But you don't play the game the right way when you don't trust the goalie AT ALL.  They will not continue to play the right way if they EXPECT to give up at least 5 every night.

Granato sticking to his plan.  Fortunate for Dell.

I don't know what to tell you. They're going to have to get really good at playing defense I guess.

At this point I chalk it (mostly) up to “it’s preseason” and UPL isn’t ready yet. Yet.

yea it’s ugly. Yea it’s bad. Yea the team needs to get better.  Chemistry needs to develop. Coaching needs to improve. Goaltending needs to be better. Coverage in front of the net needs to improve. There is a lot to do this season. But with the dearth of high end talent … it’s gonna be a rough season. So glad I suspended my season tickets. For a few reasons …

I am optimistic the team will get better throughout the season. I am not optimistic that they win more than 30 games in regulation.
