Stoner Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 It's inarguably the favorite season of most people. But why? There are so many things. First off I don't go by meteorological fall. Fall did not start on Sept. 1. And it doesn't last until just before Christmas. Fall is now until Halloween, basically. It's amazing that this short period of time can hold so much sway over us, moreso than the full three months of other seasons. I just had my first sip of Mayer Brothers cider. I've had a sweatshirt on at night. Hockey is around the bend. So many. Go. 1 Quote
mjd1001 Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 I tend to think it is the best season. It gets a bad reputation with a lot of people not because of what it is...but they are thinking of how much they don't like what comes right after it. Best thing about it? doing anything outdoors in a light jacket and being comfortable doing it. Quote
LabattBlue Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 I like nothing about fall. It it too short and means winter is just around the corner. 1 Quote
Thorner Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 Bilbo and Frodo's birthday tomorrow. Great time for movies and sports. Weather feels and looks amazing. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 Nine pin comes out with its Earl Grey hard cider in the fall. I always look forward to that. Kids back in school so it makes some weekday errand much easier. Minus the stuck behind schoolbuses. Obviously the leaves changing, especially in our part of the state. Beautiful. Convertible top down with heated seats on and heat on, lovely feeling. 1 Quote
Norcal Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 Huge fan of the foliage. Crispness in the air and apple cider are high on my list also. 1 Quote
SwampD Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 Cider. It means winter is right around the bend. The way the sun shines through the drier air on the leaves while driving on 20A. Wearing a sweatshirt is like wearing a hug. Hockey. Not sweating. No AC noise at night. Manhattans taste better in the cooler air. Fires. 2 Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 I was just down at the dock and they are pulling boats out of the water. That’s horrible. Quote

I’m pretty much here. I need another 8 weeks of Summer. You can have my margaritas and sandals when you can pry them from my cold dead fingers. 23 minutes ago, bob_sauve28 said: I was just down at the dock and they are pulling boats out of the water. Digger Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 (edited) I like the weather. Not so much the rain but the cooler weather, frost in the morning and then the sun warming everything up. Once the frost comes the insects die off and it's great for hiking. The fall leaves change color and it always amazes me how breathtaking everything looks (hard to capture with pictures.......you have to experience it). I also like it after the cottagers close down their cottages for the season (usually by the 2nd week of October) and then the hiking trails are free of all the tourists. Much nicer than summer for hiking, quiet. Edited September 21, 2021 by Digger 1 Quote
Doohicksie Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 Fall was always my favorite season (in the times before pumpkin spice came to dominate the landscape). Fall arrived in Texas this morning. It was over 100 yesterday, today it's barely 80 and breezy with on-and-off cloud cover. Very nice. Quote
steveoath Posted September 21, 2021 Report Posted September 21, 2021 Had my first pumpkin spice coffee a few weeks ago. It was fecking disgusting. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted September 22, 2021 Report Posted September 22, 2021 The crisp air, but still warm in the sun. The crisper apples. The colour of the leaves. The start of fire season. The cool evenings and overnights. Planting bulbs that will be a beautiful and welcome sight come spring. My birthday is in October. We were married in October. 2 1 Quote
K-9 Posted September 22, 2021 Report Posted September 22, 2021 The air and everything that’s in it, like the promise of championships! That and apple cider and apple cinnamon fritters and donuts. Quote
Huckleberry Posted September 22, 2021 Report Posted September 22, 2021 A few days of a surprise late summer 🙂 1 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted September 22, 2021 Report Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) I love fall, especially in the Midwest we’re the nice weather lasts up to Thanksgiving, not Halloween. College Football, pro football, comfortable temps, no humidity, long shadows, crisp air, harvest moons, winery visits, bike rides, fall colors, fall foods, sweat shirts, fall gardening, hockey starts, Halloween, family, thanksgiving, Edited September 22, 2021 by Pimlach Quote

That's a sign a chrome run is right around the corner and probably already is. As is comfortable weather, beautiful foliage, less mowing, Halloween and scary AF movies. I ***** love autumn. Quote
gomper Posted September 22, 2021 Report Posted September 22, 2021 The foliage. How crisp the air is. The energy of closing in to those closest, knowing Winter is ahead. Cool rain. Diffused sunsets. Quote

French Collection Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Cooler weather for working on the property and for sleeping at night. No more bugs in the bush. Wonderful foliage. The comfort of a sweatshirt, plus it hides some fat. Nice cozy fires in the wood stove. Hockey. Hot bowls of soup. Great hot tub evenings. 2 Quote
Claude Balls Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 I love the changing of the leaves, the cooler air and the beginning of football and hockey season. I also like the shorter days. I'm not a huge fan of bright sun for 15 hours a day. Always thought I might be part vampire. I want my room as dark as possible when I'm in there. Quote
Kr632 Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Leaves, apple cider, Halloween, the temps are perfect for sleeping, football and hockey. Quote
