Hoss Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 What term and money are you hoping we land on for Dahlin? Inspired to start this because of the reported number on Nurse: Quote
thewookie1 Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 2x5.25 or something akin to 8x7.5 to 8 mil. 1 Quote
apuszczalowski Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Well looking at this front office right now, 1 year and about $750-825k I'm guessing would be their offer..... 1 5 Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 I do not want to risk another Samson situation due to bridge contracts. I prefer an 8 x 8 deal to get 2 years UFA (I think he is 21 now). I would consider a 2 year bridge at 3 per, BUT it has to be the only bridge deal. Then sign him to tat 8 x 8, or maybe 8.5 - 9 by then at the end of the first year. That will buy 4 years UFA (I think). 1 Quote

Idk how much the price would be. Quote
LabattBlue Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Sorry, and maybe I’m completely off base, but there is no way I’m giving Dahlin 8 mil per year on a long term deal, based on his first 3 years. No friggin’ way. 3 2 Quote
SabresVet Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 It would not surprise me if the player and agent want something short term to see where this franchise is going. I had thought 2 yrs 12M. 2 Quote

I-90 W Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 (edited) Bridge deal, $4m for 2 years. His points are nice but he needs to player better at defense, because he’s not a forward. Edited July 30, 2021 by I-90 W Quote

He has 1 year left at $5.6M. Quote

I agree on the bridge deal. It’ll probably cost a bit more though. Quote
mjd1001 Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 if you are going short term, then give him what he wants (not fantasy-land, but don't worry about overpaying), simply because you don't need the cap space now. If you are going long term, go really long term. Since you are going to have ton of cap room this year (and probably next year), load it up front so it looks really good to him, but it might keep the total value a tad lower so it doesn't hurt the cap as much in later years. 1 Quote

I can see Dahlin really wanting a bridge deal. Both to showcase himself under Granato and to see how things go with Buffalo. I agree that Sabres should be keeping the need to sign him long term at the forefront of their mind. 1 Quote
Cheektorado Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Pay him good money on his 2 year bridge. The young guys will notice that too. Quote

Is front loading still possible under the CBA? I thought it was eliminated after the Ehrhoff (SP?) fiasco and some others. Quote

If you’re going that long just go eight years. 2 hours ago, New Scotland (NS) said: Is front loading still possible under the CBA? Srw1525 Posted July 31, 2021 Report Posted July 31, 2021 3x5.5 million. Has all the skill but needs to prove in the 3 years he deserves a long term contract 1 Quote
Zamboni Posted July 31, 2021 Report Posted July 31, 2021 Max length of 8 years. I’d live with 7. I’d bank on him getting better and developing in a positive direction. 6 - 6.75 per. The first 2-3 years would be an overpayment more or less. But the remaining years would be fair for both sides. Keyword fair. Assuming of course he develops well. Quote
