Yes, he did, at the time we picked him. Top half of the first round pick. Quinn also won't be here.

I thought they might bring in some capable vets, as that is the strategy I would employ. But failing that, I did think if they went with the "go young" strategy, they'd actually bring in young players for the roster with upside

No, he didn't. He was a 14th overall pick. 

I'm not going to debate with you on this team being different than that team. I've read your posts, they're good arguments. I feel it's not the same.

Why? Haven’t you learned after all these years and many many press conferences … The GM’s are optimistic  to the media about that. “Of course our goal is to make the playoffs”, “and to win the cup”.

And it’s the fans job to believe or not believe it.

Girgensons played 19+ minutes a night compared to Cozens 14 in his D+2 year and NEVER got close to those point totals again.

That is why the 2021 draft was so important. That is why they need to get another 1st and 2nd in 2022. They need the critical mass of talent they never got in 2015.

In 2013 and 2014 we totally botched those drafts and never recovered. 2021 has some questions but I don't feel we botched it (I could be wrong). We at least drafted 11 guys giving you lots of chances. If only 4 games are NHL teams, we are doing good.
