Let me begin by saying that Danault isn't going to sign here, but he would be the perfect guy to play 1st line center and protect Mitts and Cozens.  He is a solid shutdown center who can play against the other team's top centers while still adding offense.

Friedman posted a list of his GUESSES for free agency.

Of note for the Sabres:
He lists Buffalo as one of three teams for Freddy Anderson

He lists Minnesota for Jake McCabe and mentions McCabe has been skating for three weeks already.

No thanks on Anderson, he's as bad as Hutton

That chart sorta looks like the offensive abilities exactly offset that

I could be wrong but, I don't think so? He's about mid-range percentile for O, and bottom of the barrel for D, so that'd leave him somewhere in the bottom 4th overall

Actually sorry - at about the top of the bottom 4th (25th percentile) ~

Johnson has a limited ntc so Buffalo might not have been an option

Also I was mistaken and this actually helps Chicago clear a little bit of cap space.

I think Johnson and Seabrook were actually both making 5 mil

Seabrook is making about 6.85 mil and is LTIRetired

They weren't and Seabrook was on LTIR so it changes the math for Tampa.

Do you 😏

Yes, Brad Johnson to Tampa and C.Brooks out of NYR, declaring Brendan won't be moved at all, instead to LTIR. Got it.

Would be a great target imo. Also imo not likely to happen, as he would seem to fit the mold of a player who "blocks" Cozens and Casey

Low expectations for today.  No Eichel trade, no key goaltending acquisitions either.  Might even see GMKA to take on some bad short-term contracts in exchange for future picks in order to consume cap space.  Buffalo will have to overpay to get any legit UFA's.
